I would like to know the quickest and cheapest way to get to Lourdes, France flying from the USA. Also tips on economical hotels and places to eat while there. From Lourdes, I plan to see Paris, Berlin, Budapest and Austria but don't have any idea on how to accomplish this. Please help me.

Heading to Des Moines/Altoona/Ames area next week and was wondering if any local christmas events or neighborhood christmas light shows you could recommend ? Have some time to kill... plan on going to West Des Moines Junction for a little shopping. Thanks!

I know I will be in Iowa (Iowa City, to be exact, although I shall drive around as well) for a week in mid-August. I know that Iowa is slap-bang in the middle of 'Tornado Alley'. I am a Brit. We do not generally have tornadoes in the UK, and those that we do have (rarely) are very small and very localised. So my question is simply this..what do I do if a) the tornado siren sounds and/or b) I see a tornado when I'm driving around? Drive swiftly in the opposite direction? Stay in the car? Park and seek shelter? Try to get inside a building? If I ask about things and know what to do, chances are (ime) they won't happen. That's what I've found, anyway....

I am 99.999% sure I'll be staying in IC for several days (probably 5 or 6) in mid-August. Not yet sure how i'll be arriving...still trying to sort out an itinerary within my budget. Some of those days will be certainly taken up with other things (the reason why I'm going) but I anticipate having at least 2 or 3 free. I shall hire a car: I know I must! So....where shall I go? My real interests are history and archaeology, small places and countryside. But I will almost certainly be by myself, so would be a bit wary of taking long hikes in what I assume will be (for a Brit) hot weather. Gentle countryside strolls would be better. All ideas gratefully received. :-)

Hi I am thinking of visiting a friend who resides in Iowa and to visit the surrounding cities. What would be a suggested itinerary / route? My thinking is to do a 14 days trip. My fiance's family is from the midwest: Iowa (Iowa City area) and Illinois (Aurora area/West of Chicago), and we want to have our wedding in this area, but I have no idea what is available for weddings other than churches. I want to have an outside wedding that just takes someone's breath away: beach (I know I'm not going to find this here), gardens, park, ??? Does anyone have any ideas or locations that would help me and my fiance out? We don't have a huge budget, however, so all though some areas in Chicago are beautiful I'm not sure we could afford them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, would anyone of you like to go to Mount Rushmore on July 3rd and July 4th for the Independence Day celebrations? I will be on a Greyhound trip through the US. Since bus service between Sioux Falls (South Dakota, close to Iowa border) and Rapid City as well as public transportation around Rapid City is very rare, I will rent a car in Sioux Falls on the morning of July 3rd and drive over to Mount Rushmore. Are there any long distance train services available in Des Moines? What is the best mode of travel to Chicago from Des Moines. We will be in Des Moines for about 3 months, would anyone like to suggest some day trips options. We are nature lovers.
