Wedding in Iowa/Midwest

My fiance's family is from the midwest: Iowa (Iowa City area) and Illinois (Aurora area/West of Chicago), and we want to have our wedding in this area, but I have no idea what is available for weddings other than churches. I want to have an outside wedding that just takes someone's breath away: beach (I know I'm not going to find this here), gardens, park, ??? Does anyone have any ideas or locations that would help me and my fiance out? We don't have a huge budget, however, so all though some areas in Chicago are beautiful I'm not sure we could afford them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
