I understand it's not the safest area. I will be taking a train at 11:30pm, after dropping my rental car at airport. I'll take a cab to the train station around 10 pm and waiting at the station. Safe enough?

What would be the general consensus on buying a house in Gary? I was watching the TODAY Show last week and they had a piece on Gary and how things are getting sooo much better there. Are they just blowing smoke or are there areas of this town where an older (62-65) could feel safe enough to go outside and enjoy the parks, beach and go shopping without getting confronted by gangs???
I am traveling thru Indiana and have a 5,6,7 yo and heard alot of things about brown county debating on taking the kids or not????

Isla Utila sounds like the perfect place for me. I am not a diver, but the place looks beautiful and peaceful. I am interested in receiving any tips and suggestions that members have about the place. I am 68 years old, and my wife and I are not interested in any heavy partying. We are interested in a relaxing, peacful place to spend time.
My girlfriend & I are looking to get away for some relaxation & fun in Jan after the holidays. We plan to go during the week. I had skied a little many yrs ago, she has never skied before. I'm sure we will want to try it at least once, but I think I'd also like to try a snowmobile, sledding, x-country, snowshoeing, just enjoying nature. Also, she was widowed a couple of yrs ago & has never really done the single scene thing. So, we want the op to socialize in the evening -- fun bars, dancing, music, etc.
She's originally from Romania, has never really vacationed alone, so I'm making the plans. We're women in our 40's.
I had been checking out Colorado, but it's so expensive & then you add the airfare ...... whereas we can easily drive to VT.
Any suggestions out there?
I used to shop at a pottery shop on Route 20. It moved to the Indian Oaks area and I am curious about their new location. Someone said it was beside the resort. I am anxious to shop there again.

How much does it cost to enter the park gate?
Hello! I was just yesterday at Kemil Beach, and I noticed that it was very rocky near the shoreline and about 20 feet into the water. It really hurt my feet and was a steep drop-off into the water. Of the other National Lakeshore beaches, are any of them less rocky? Porter, Dunbar, Lake View, Central, Mt. Baldy? Is the State Park any better? Do any have a more gradual entrance into the water (I'm thinking of my 65 year old mother). If you have visited recently and found a beach to be more sandy than rocky, I would love to hear from you as I'm planning a return visit soon.
I will be visiting Indianapolis the last week in July. What are the best places to visit? What are the best night life locations? Thanks?

Mostly interested in the cultre/way of life, country tours and of course eating. Any help would be appriciated. Haven't been to either.(although Indiana,i.e. Shipshewana would be closer for us.)
I am a current freshman at Notre Dame. I would really love to make it up to Michigan State for the away football game but I am unsure as to how to get there. I heard that there is possibly a bus that is supplied by the school but I would want to stay the night, not come back right after the game. If anyone can lend any suggestions as to how I could this would be great! Thank you!
My daughter and I are coming from Idaho to Dayton for her new job. Everything looks like a straight shot. I was wondering if we come in by 74, is there a way around the city and traffic instead of going into the city.
