So far I know those coming to Port Blair airport by a flight receives permit (for non-Indians) after arrival to P. Blair but what about the travelers coming at harbour by ship ? Can it be issued there at harbour or from Kolkata shipping office or at very beginning during visa process ?

Me & friend are going Leh from 12th Jun to 1st July 2013.We shall be going to monasteries, Panggong Lake,Nubra Valley,Tso Morriri & Spiti Valley.Anybody going Ladakh during the above period & interested to look for somebody to share transpostation cost,please contact us.Thanks!

I'm planning to make a trip to Andaman with a group of 2 families having 2 kids in each(age 5 and 12 yrs) . Would anybody pl help me give some ideas answering the following questions-
1. How feasible it would be to have a ship journey from Kolkata to Andaman with kids of this age ?.
2. If I want to return back by flight (one way), would I be able to get the air tickets (of 8 persons) from Port Blair to Kolkata on the spot without any advance booking ?
3. On which month there are less travelers in Andaman, when the hotel rooms are available without prior booking and rates are cheaper.
4. Can you give me an idea of the flight rates from Port Blair to Kolkata and vice versa ?

I'm looking to do a Golden Triangle Tour and probably a beach extension after. My question relates to the Golden Triangle tour. There are a multitude on-line but I'm wondering the best way to get between the cities. Should I go by air, rail or road or a mixture.

What would the likely difference be in costings and time to taken to travel between the different modes of transportation. I don't want to overspend but also don't want to spend too much time simply travelling between destinations when I could have more time in the actual cities.

Will the time sacrifice of going by road be outweighed by the scenery I'd experience?

I'm going to be entering at Naxalbari after three months of travel in Nepal. I'll be going to mirik and Darjeeling first, and then make my way down to the beaches!I'll be traveling through WB during the month of may. I'm not well informed about places to go to in WB, and I'm new to virtual tourist, it's a great site and a good travel source. I'm a sucker for historical places, nature, and food! WB is a beautiful state, and has much to offer in these matters :)
I'd really like for you to suggest really worthwhile places to go to between siliguri and Calcutta. I stay away from noisy polluted places, as I suppose any nature lover would. Riversides for a cool bath, waterfalls, national parks to stay in and around, forts and palaces, places of historical significance, architecture, and not to forget food! I work up a good appetite by cycling, and I want try some local delicacies!
