I am interested for a 6/7 days travel in August. I will be traveling with my 2 year old daughter and wife. I need a destination to travel during the monsoon and considering my little daughter. I leave in Kolkata and is willing to spend INR 20K on the travel excluding the travel fare from Kolkata to the destination.
Its going to be almost impossible to suggest a destination that will not be having monsoon. It seems that season ins June- Sept. However, if you are willing to brave it, I would suggest going to Rajasthan. Udaipur is a wonderful destination, and you can fly there from Kolkata. If you would like more info on Udaipur, my homepage has a link for the city, and also for Rajasthan. (click on my name for HOMEPAGE- then find the links. Scroll down pages for tips etc.

PS there is really much less chance of 'urban flooding' in Rajasthan, such as happens in Delhi and Mumbai.

Have you considered the North-East? If you like monsoons, Sohra is the place.

Thanks but traveling to a place where it rains heavily with a 2 year old daughter will be tough. I am looking for a drier place to travel.

If you are planning for Udaipur, you can go to Mount Abu and on the way you can visit Haldi Ghati (battle field famous for Maharana Pratap). You can try natural honey available at Haldi Ghati, its really gud. For hotel accomodation, you can try Pahadi Palace in Udaipur from where you can see a beautiful Sunrise.

I am a regular visitor to Udaipur. I have many dear friends there. Because of this, many many VT members have read my reviews of the hotel I recommend, and stayed there - it is fantastic value. Jaiwana Haveli.(see link below) This is where I always stay: Udaipur Hotel Tips by lynnehamman Yash, who is the owner, can arrange a car & driver for you (not expensive) and you could see Jaipur, Jodhpur and even Jaisalmer maybe. Read my page on RAJASTHAN. (Link is on my homepage). Jain Temple at Ranakpur is awesome, Kumbalgarh Fort and Chittorgarh Forts are quite close to Udaipur as well. You would not be bored for sure. Also have a read of my Udaipur page- it has many tips and ideas, with photos. I was in Udaipur again in February 2012. Love the city, and its people.
