What if you miss the ferry from Angra dos Reis-- can you hire a boat?

Hi, I've heard that if you miss the regular ferry (Angra-Abrao 15:30), you can hire a boat in Angra to take you to Ilha Grande. Has anyone done this? Is it easy to find someone willing to take you across (especially if I'm arriving in the evening on a Friday) ? Thanks for your input!

    hi -i missed the ferry last year, but it was no problem since there was several smaller boats (escunas) to transport us. just go to the harbour and i think things will turn out alright. the bad thing is that the smaller boats are more expensive. - enjoy the island !!
