You probably would choose to fly into GRU (Sao Paulo) and take a domestic flight to Porto Alegre (or ?Florianopolis). Then you could get the bus from the rodoviaria (bus station) to Ibirubá. Also look at flights on Avianca to Passo Fundo, a small nearby (about 100km) airport, to compare fares, and from there take a bus (or more expesive taxi maybe). Bus info usually can be found on the ANTT site. May I ask why you are journeying to such a small (pop: about 19K) place? Homestay/cultural exchange of some sort? If you have local contacts, you should ask them for specific travel details.

Try using www.skyscanner.net as a search engine. It will give you carriers and routing for anywhere to anywhere (often with fares as well), so you can use it for the flight to Porto Alegre or Florianopolis. .

Thanks for your information, I work for an American owned company with a manufacturing facility in Ibirubá that I may have to visit in January or February.

If the company is requiring this trip to the middle of nowhere, I would make it the least grueling on yourself. Perhaps try to spend the first day (given morning arrival on int'l flight, as the majority) and overnight in Sao Paulo to recover and get your bearings. I recommend staying in Jardins and walk to see a bit of this nice neighborhood with the MASP museum, Trianon park and lots of shops and restaurants. Get the company to pay for the flight to Passo Fundo from Sao Paulo (only 1 flight per day, mid-day; and 1 flight back, early afternoon on Avianca, which would coordinate with a late evening flight home). Book ASAP since this flight looks to fill up (small plane, I suspect) Contact the company you are going to be visiting about identifying a private car and driver service (or taxi that can be waiting at the airport, or even some company functionary who has a car) to get you the rest of the way. The non-stop journey will probably work out to well over 24 hours door to door, most of it with no one who speaks English to guide you, and you want to be able to function on arrival, not be a walking zombie. (Been there, done that. :-) The company you will be visiting should be helping to arrange suitable accomodation nearby and local transportation during the visit. Good travels.
