I will be on July in Hvar. What's the best place to stay? Hvar city ou Stari Grad? Tks.
My wife and I are spending a month traveling in Croatia and will be in Split October 2nd. I was planning on dropping off our rental car in Split and taking a passenger ferry to Hvar for 3 days and then move onto Kercula for 2 days and take a ferry to Dubrovnik for 5 days. I am having trouble finding a ferry that will take us from Kercula to Dubrovnik on October 7th. Any suggestions. Thanks....Pinkman
I am wondering if I need to make hotel reservations for Hvar and other areas of the coast such as Split and Dubrovnik in September, or are the crowds thinned out by then and would I be able to find a place to stay when I arrive.
Can anyone recommend a good safe driver with a minivan to take us around Hvar Island. We will be based in Jelsa.
Hello, I am going with my girlfriend to Hvar beginning of september and we would like to rent a small motorboat (2-person boat with outboard motor) to make a one-day excursion to the Pakleni Islands. I don't have any experience with boats. I have a few questions: - Can you rent a small boat when you don't have permit or alike? - Is it realistic to go to the islands without boat experience? I guess there is some traffic going out of Hvar port too? - And then a probably very stupid question: what do you do with the boat when you see a beach that you like? Has a small boat some kind of anchor? Or do you have to pull it onto the beach? Or...? This beginning sailor thanks you for your responses. Greets, Mark
Hi - a friend and I are thinking about taking a trip to Croatia in mid October 2011. We both love the sea, historic areas, hiking, fun shops, good food and I am a photographer. We will have 8 days to travel and will probably fly in and out of Split. I have read a lot about Hvar - what is is like in mid-October in terms of weather, the number of shops and restaurants open, the ability to take day trips to other islands, etc? What islands do you recommend visiting at this time of year? We would also like to spend a few days in Dubrovnik and/or Split - what are your recommendations? Thank you.
Anyone have a June 2011 Hvar Island bus schedule? Am taking the Thursday June 23 boat from Korcula to Stari Grad that arrives 16:40 (4:40pm). Will there be a bus to Hvar town? If not, what might a taxi cost? Thanks very much!
Can anyone tell me if the Public Car Parks in Hvar Town are free and if not what the cost is? Also is it safe enough...
I was in Hvar in August, found "Sosa" and all her beautiful pieces. I need an email address or website please!!!! The "gentleman" of the ceramic pair l bought, tragically dropped to the floor and is broken. I must replace it! So hope someone can help, don't know how when I can get back there
Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me out here. We're planning a spot of island hopping before going to a festival in Petrcane, late August. We're going to spend two nights in Hvar before going on to Vis if possible. The problem is that the catamaran only seems to go from Hvar to Vis on a Tuesday. On the other days it looks as if there's no stop there. Does anyone know whether there is another line apart from the main jadrolinija that services this route? Or is it possible to take a smaller chartered boat perhaps? Thanks for your help. J

Hi I will be in Hvar in August & will be leaving on a Thursday to go to Dubrovnik. I have been looking at a lot of sites/ forums & am a bit confused by the ferries etc. I dont know if the info I was reading was quite old.. From what I read it looks like there is only a ferry twice a week that stops in hvar & continues to Dubrovnik ( around 7hrs) So best option is to get ferry back to split & bus from there.. do they ferries run every day from hvar to split? Also was looking at getting from hvar to Sucuraj, taking a ferry from there to Drevenik & bus from there to Dubrovnik... Is there a regular bus from hvar to Sucuraj and fron Drevenik to Dubrovnik? Or would hvar/split/dubrovnik be the best option? Any info appreciated! Linda :-)
Is it possible to travel from Split to Hvar by ferry in the morning of Sept. 29? Most importantly, is it possible to travel from Hvar to Dubrovnik by Ferry on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010? or does one have to Ferry from Hvar to Split, then ferry to Dubrovnik? Answer at
Hi, I've thinked to stay one week in Hvar (Hvar city) with my girlfriend in the next summer (after the last great experience in Dubrovnik). So I need some infos about this destination: - Is it better to stay in the old town or 2 Km far from it?There's a big difference of price between this 2 areas... - I would arrive in the island with my car...is there a lot of traffic in the Hvar City area?If I will stay 2 km far from the centre,I will have to use often the car to reach it,but I would not want to stay in a very busy area... - Could it be a good idea to rent a scooter to avoid traffic queues,or it's not useful? - What about the beaches?Surely I will stay in different beaches everyday...but are there beaches reachble at foot? And there are some beaches with umbrellas and decks? What about their prices? Thank you very much fo your help! Thank you very much

My wife and I are travelling to Hvar from Split in September this year and wonder if it is possible to hire a car in Stari Grad or should we hire it in Split? We are staying in Vrboska and would like the freedom of having our own transport. Thanks.
Hi, we will travel from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik then to Montenegro next week by rental car. We surely want to see Hvar and Korcula. What itinerary would you suggest? Go first to Dubrovnik and leave the car there and use catamaran? or take the car and use ferries? Is there any other way to go to the islands coming from Sarajevo? Thx. Sebla
Hi am very confused! I'm looking to travel from Split to Hvar on 28th September ideally returning on 1st October. Hey everyone, I would like to travel to Hvar in august by car and I have heard that there is much cheaper ferry from Makarska. Does any one have an advice which ferry is best and cheapest. We are off to ciovo in august and wondered how frequent the ferries are from Split to hvar for a day trip. Is it best to take the car or go as a foot passenger. Any particular ferry to use ? thanks a lot Anne and Gav, Dundee
My boyfriend and I are in Croatia in early September and we would like to spend 7 nights on Hvar and also maybe Brac or another island. We are in our 30s, we love nature, the sea, snorkelling, and eating out. We're thinking Hvar town sounds a bit too "party" for us (we don't want a holiday centered on clubs, yachts and cocktails) but we'd like somewhere that is beautiful, interesting and has at least 2 or 3 restaurants and shops (ie minimarkets). We will be hiring a car to explore the rest of the island. (We stayed in Sali on Dugi Otok last year and we loved it, to give you an idea of our kind of place.) Zavala looks like it could be the place but I'm wondering if it is too sleepy? Also wondering whether we should spend half the week Hvar and half the week on Brac, or somewhere else like Vis. Really want to see Brac but we would have to get the car ferry back to Split then to Brac again and we want to have a nice relaxing week. If we took a day trip on the catamaran from Hvar to Brac is it easy to get around without a car? And where on Brac would you suggest heading for (quite fancy Zlatni Rat but I bet it's v touristy?) I know I have asked a lot of questions here but I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions you can give. Thank you Amber
Hello I am planning on booking the ferry from Stari Grad to Dubrovnik which leaves early on the Saturday morning, however would like to stay in Hvar Town, so need to be able to travel from Hvar Town to Stari Grad early in the morning. Does anybody know when the earliest bus from Hvar Town to Stari Grad is? Or how much a taxi would cost as another possible option? Thanks

Also does anyone know if, once on the island of Hvar late at night there is a shuttle bus from Starigrad to Hvar Town? Thank you for your help.
