      Anaheim Mar 24, 2014 at 8:56 AM

We are heading to the NCAA tourney in Anaheim this week, staying at the Doubletree in Anaheim /Orange Co. Is a car a necessity? I see there is a super shuttle from the airport. Would we be stranded without a car, or would that just be a hassle? Just wondering if we are in walking distance to restaurants, etc.

Hostels to stay in near Union Station LA

Los Angeles Apr 5, 2014 at 7:26 AM

      Hello all!

I am flying into LAX next Sunday at 9pm and I am looking for a place to stay until I get my AMTRAX train from Union Station up to San Francisco on Tuesday morning.

I am planning to go straight from the airport to a hostel / hotel near Union station where I can sleep and recover from Jet lag. I want to stay by Union Station the following Monday day and night so I can be near by to collect my train on the tuesday morning.

Does anybody recommend the best / cheapest way to get from LAX to Union Station on a Sunday night?

Does anybody have any recommendations for places to stay near Union Station?

I am thinking a cheap and friendly youth hostel?

Also, what type of area is Union Station in?
Are there any interesting places in walking distance?
Coffee shops or parks where I can just chill for the afternoon?

I really look forward to hearing from you!
      Many thanks,

      Milly, London

      safe area to stay

San Francisco Apr 15, 2014 at 2:25 PM

      Hi there,
hope you can help!! I have planned a 7 night trip to Sanfrancisco in April Next year. There are 5 of us going so I needed to rent out an apartment. The only one I can find with the bedrooms and outside space in in lower Haight. Its actually on page and Divisadero. Would this area be safe to stay in and can we easily get to the main sights such as Fishermans Wharf and Union Square. I haven't been to SF since 1999 and then I stayed with relatives in San Jose so we just came for day trips.
      Kind regards

      Hey,
I've tried google-ing 'Huntington Hostel' and i've found a place called
      Colonial Inn Youth Hostel Hotel
However, looking through the various hostel sites, i can't find it.
It's site does not load either.
      Is this hostel still open?

If not, can anyone recommend a 'cheap' place to stay in the area for two nights.
I'll be hitting the area in early September.

      Thanks in advance.

by bedenji Online Now Mar 25, 2007 at 7:25 PM

Hi- some girlfriends and I are hoping to visit the area in mid-June. We have our hearts set on spending some great time on the beach, and are just unsure of our best options. We are thinking of staying at the Hilton Beachfront, which would be very expensive but right on the beach (I think). Our other option would be to stay at an inland (i.e. cheaper) hotel and drive to the beach, but don't know what the public beach options are. Are there public beaches that offer chair rentals? Does anyone have any other tips?

      Thanks!

way to get from LAX to Huntington Beach

by va8eha Online Now Oct 20, 2006 at 10:29 PM

      Hi, all.

Question .. I am heading to Huntington Beach for the marathon in Feb and will be flying into the L.A. airport. I'd like to avoid renting a car if possible, since I'd only need it to get to and from the airport.

Is there is a bus route or similar from the airport to HB? Or if not, how much can I expect to pay for a taxi ride?

      thanks! --Elizabeth
