I saw this photo when I was googling 'bridges' in Zhangjiajie and this one came up. They call it a moon bridge, and I'm wondering if it's really real and if so, whereabouts is it? I'll be in the area in September this year. And the chinese name if you know it, please!
Hello, I am wondering about the backpacker culture around Zhangjiajie. I am a first time backpacker traveling SOLO In April. I am looking to be there mid apr sometime.. I know it's a popular place amongst the Chinese, but am I likely to run into other English speaking backpackers in the Youth Hostels there to go on these long hikes in the area with? As it's kind of complicated and out of the way to get there I don't really want to hike for days alone!
Is there a shop to rent violins for just a few days in Yueyang, Hunan? Xie Xie
How much is the ticket price to walk this skywalk and how long does it take?
We are thinking about flying from Kunming to Changsha, staying 1 night and then we want to get to FengHuang for 2 nights, coming back to Changsha via Zhiangjiaje (maybe) to catch a plane up to Taiyuan (Pingyao). I can't find any word of a 2-3 day tour to FengHuang online. What is the likelihood I can arrange a private/non-private tour or even a shuttle bus to get to FH from either the airport or our hotel (haven't picked one yet but heard great things about one called the FeeTel Creativity hotel)? Any idea of cost?
Hi, based on the winters in 2009 and 2010, is it possible to visit the mountains in Zhangjiajie in late Nov and early Dec with no problems?
Where can I find an online bus schedule for the route between Chansha and Huaihai? How often does the bus leave and what times do they leave? Thank you for any help.
My tour ends in Changsha, but I was told that the town of Zhenyuan is worth seeing, so I want to stop at Huaihua on the way the Zhenyuan. I read there is a 4 hour bus from Changsha to Huaihua. Can someone please tell me how to catch this bus and when does it leave Changsha? Also, what is the bus fare? Would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.
I am planning on moving to Changsha in October. Can you give me any information on apartment rentals? Rent? Utility costs? Thanks, Mike
Hi friends, As i m planning to visit Zhangjiajie. I would like you to suggest about 1. Should i go in April or MAy. Is it any differences? 2. What is the weather like during that time ? 3. Need climbing or treking ? I m not that kind of type :P 4. I m not sure is it comparable between juizhaigoa and Zhangjiajie, Hallelujah Mountains in Avatar :P. I'm sorting through a list of towns to visit in China in September 2011 and FengHuang has entered my radar as a possibility. Apparently, there is a lovely gorge nearby called the TiangLong Valley (or something like that) with steps bolted into the sides of the cliff to walk above the waterfalls. How do it find info on that and how to get there (and back?) For hotels in the town, I understand that there may be some new ones along the river which might be nicer than the listed ones on Tripadvisor. Has anyone been there recently and can recommend a (clean) hotel for 2 older ladies who are still fairly active? We'd like to be close to the scenic spots in town. Also, I need info on how best to get there from either the nearest city's airport or the nearest city's bus station that has frequent buses to and from FengHuang. Dont' worry about where it is, we'll there (fly in?) in order to save time as we only have 10 days in China and many towns to visit (In order, first draft: Shanghai, Hangzhou, Huangshan, Xingyi, Taiyuan, Pingyao, Beijing). Information websites would be most apprciated!

Thanks to anyone that can help me. Maybe we will see in Changsha. Bye. Michele. I'm from Italy.

Will be in Zhangjiajie in April with my family.. I was told there are many tour guides in Zhangjiajie tourist spots, but we have to engage a good and trustworthy tour guide. Any recommendation from the members who have been to Zhangjiajie?
I will be arriving Guilin early January 2010, since I have 14 days to travel, I am thinking of going to Zhangjiajie/Feng Huang Gu Cheng first. The following would be my tentative itinerary: D1: Arriving Guilin in the morning 1100, then take a train to Changsha, Hunan; stay a night in Changsha. D2,morning: Leaving Changsha for Zhangjiajie; stay in Zhangjiajie. D3 ~D5: Zhangjiajie. D6, morning: Leaving ZJJ for Feng Huang Gu Cheng. Stay in Feng Huang Gu Cheng. D7 ~D8: Stay in Feng Huang Gu Cheng. D9, morning: Leaving Feng Huang Gu Cheng for Changsha. D9~D10: Stay 2 nights in Changsha. D11: Depart from Changsha to Guilin. D12~D14: Guilin. D14, afternoon: Fly home. Now, I need some helps from the seasoned travelers for the following doubts: 1) Is the above itinerary too hectic? Improvement on it would be much appreciated! 2) Is there any direct transport from Guilin to Zhangjiajie/ Feng Huang Gu Cheng instead of going to Changsha? a) What is it? b) how long to travel? c) How much time to travel? d) How much RMB? 3) Any other road transport other than train? a) how much RMB? b) and the time needed to travel? c) How much RMB? 4) Actually, what is the best way to go to Zhangjiajie/ Feng Huang Gu Cheng from Guilin? Suggestions on better plans would be appreciated! Looking forward to your great help! Thank you!
Hi Everyone, We're planning a visit here soon (this month or next), along with Changsha, Chengdu, and JiuZhaiGou. Any thoughts on how long is needed to enjoy ZhangJiaJie? We'll likely arrive in the evening, so we can start early the next morning and are wondering if one day is sufficient, though we prefer a liesurely pace. Also, we're still trying to figure out the best route for our trip to all these places, looking at flight costs and so on. Right now we're thinking of starting in ZhangJiaJie (flying there from Beijing)where we can then go to Changsha, Chengdu, JiuZhaiGou, then back through Chengdu to Beijing. If you've done a similar route or have any thoughts on this, please do share! Many thanks in advance. Susan

Wondering if anyone could offer travel experience in Changsha. Where are the 'must-visit' sites? Heard about Fenghuang gucheng and zhang jiajie and the famous spicy cuisine, embriodiary too. Any reasonable-priced hotels you can recommend, in term of location and cleanliness? safe to travel alone there? Advisable to take public transport from airport to town? Appreciate all your help.
Please can somebody suggest a hostel or cheap hotel in Changsha. I have stayed in Changsha before but i was unhappy with the service and prices of the 2 hotels. I need to visit again in a few weeks and have spent hours searching for hostels and hotels but cannot find a single bed for under RMB158 I normally pay about RMB70 in most towns but Changsha seems to be the most expensive city in china. Perhaps I am searching in the wrong place. A hostel dormitory would be great. Anywhere in or around Changsha is fine as I am quite happy to use the buses. Thanks for your help. Gary.
Hi. Can somebody please help with the detailed instruction of how to get by train to Changsha from Guangzhou and how to book for train tickets on line. We are getting the bus from Macau to Guangzhou. Much thanks.
My wife has a physical problem and cannot climb hills for extensive period. She can do mild climbing. If we go to Zhangjiajie, do we need to climb a lot of steep hills? Are there porters who can carry her over more demanding places? Thanks.
I will be traveling to Hengdong (South of Changsha), Hunan, China this summer and have a few questions. Where would be a good place to stay? What would be some things to see in the area? Would it be worth it to take the train there as we would be coming form the Guangzho/Hong Kong area? Or take a plane to Changsha and than a bus/van to Hengdong? Any other advice by those who have visited or live in the area would be appreciated. Thank you. Lori
Like to hear from anyone in that area. I understand it is quite a fireworks friendly place, Best regards, *LUIGI*(USA)
