    • 24 days in Vietnam

      Vietnam Jun 8, 2013 at 5:24 AM

my wife and I will spend 24 days in Vietnam during Oct/Nov, 2013. This will be our second trip, previously we visited HCM (Mekong), Hoi An, Hanoi, Sapa and Halong Bay and we will be visiting all these places again, with more time at each destination.(possible exception Sapa)

We would very much appreciate comments from VT if we should visit other interesting destinations in Vietnam. My wife and I are in our mid-70's, so we would prefer destinations with relative easy access. We are past motor-cycle stage.

Our interests are local culture, local food, local handwoven textiles and generally taking it easy. We enjoy staying at guesthouses as we meet many young people there and we enjoy talking with them.

I have posted this question about a week ago but cannot see it in the Forum, so I have probably given it the wrong heading. If it is duplicated I apologise.

Thank you for any assistance you may be able to give us.

Are there busses to the citadel and how much would they cost ? Where can I take them ? Also , what's the current reasonable rate of hiring taxis cyclos, etc ? I'll be staying at the Tha Binh 2 hotel, anyone travelled there by bus before ? and where can I take the bus from the city centre back to the airport ? thanks much , this will make easier in case it rains, or I get too tired of walking. cheers! Hello!! Planning a trip to Hue and was wondering if anyone can help me plan the places to visit in Hue. We are a group of 6 adults and would want to go around by ourselves so that we don't need to be rushed instead of going on a packaged tour. We will be in Hue for 2 nights then we move to Hoi Ann for another 2 nights before heading back to HCM. Are there any not to be missed places? We are interested in historical and adventure type of activities. Do you think it is better to hire a car/van to take us around on specific places of interest? Also, are there any places between Hue and Hoi An that we can pass along when we move to Hoi An? Your inputs will be highly appreciated! Best, Jekie

      Is a bike OK?

by stamporama Online Now Jun 14, 2009 at 6:40 AM

If I rent a bike, is it OK to ride it in and around the Citadel and Forbidden City? If there are areas that are off-limits to bikes, can they be parked and locked safely somewhere? Also, I read from a guide book that one could bring a bike aboard the boats that ply the Perfume River so you could ride off to some of the temples along the banks. Is this true and feasible? Thanks for any replies.
