      Anyone up for Tibet ?

      Tibet Jan 14, 2015 at 6:31 AM

      Hi everyone !
My name is Juliette, I’m 21 and I’m french. I’m studying art in Suzhou at the moment, but I’ll be taking some time off to travel around China starting the end of january. I have been planning to go to Tibet around the last week of february, but quite honestly, I’m looking for someone (or a group of someones, the more the merrier !) to share the costs with, seeing how the requirements make it quite expensive, and it's always nice to do this kind of trip with someone to share with !
Anyone out there interested in joining me ? :)

I noticed the tours are "private" so they adapt to your needs.. i have couple of questions.. has anybody has done it and if so which company you used?
will you consider the private tour to be safe for a female solo traveler?

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Jan 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM

      Hi!
My boyfriend and I will travel to China in May. Our plan is to get a train straight to Ulaanbaatar and stay at Mongolia for a week. The only thing is we have no idea what to do and how to travel in Mongolia, we really could use some help.
We are backpackers - which means, low budget travel and seeking for an authentic experience. I know we just got 1 week to spend there, but we would really like to visit the Gobi desert and spent the night at locals house.
      Thank you!!

      Wuhan Jun 26, 2013 at 2:09 PM

I want to go from Shanghai to a Yangtse River cruise leaving from Yichang. Most travel brochures show a flight to Wuhan and then a 4-5 hr bus ride to Yichang. I've found that there are direct flights from Shanghai to Yichang. I'd prefer to save time and money and fly direct. I'm wondering why travel companies do this? Is there something special about the direct flight or the bus ride?

      Wuhan Apr 27, 2008 at 3:07 PM

I am flying into Wuhan and need to find my way to Yichang for my Yangtze river cruise at the same day. I have some questions:

      1) Is taking the bus from Wuhan to Yichang the quickest and the best way?
      2) The long distance bus station at Xinhua road, Hankou. is where I board the bus to Yichang.
      3) How often the bus ran from Wuhan to Yichang?
      4) How far is the airport to the bus station approximately?

      Thanks

      Jingzhou and Wudangshan

Hubei Sheng Apr 24, 2008 at 6:59 PM

Has anyone been to Jingzhou? We're going there for one of the stops on our May holiday trip and are looking for some tips/recommendations. Or, personal experiences/opinions also welcome!

      1) How do you move on to Wudangshan, from Jingzhou? I guess it doesn't make sense to go back to Yichang to try and catch a train. Are there direct buses from Jingzhou? If not, where should we change... probably at Xiangfan?

      2) How long would you allow for sightseeing in Jingzhou? We were planning on perhaps 3 hours, but wondering if it's too long or too short.

    • Yichang to Xian via Wudang Shan

Wudang Shan Sep 25, 2007 at 3:42 AM

      hello,

I'm about to jump off of a hydrofoil in Yichang and take a train to Xian, while making a two-three day stop in Wudang Shan. Time: the last week of October, 2007. I'll be in a company of three friends, all first time in China, almost no command of Chinese

I've had a look at train.hepost.com, and there is a train K625/K628 with a stop in Wudang Shan

I've heard one cannot book railway tickets in China earlier than 5 days from the trip date. I have also heard there may be difficulties (ticket availability-wise) with catching a train on a midway station

sorry if I sound a bit too fidgety. Do you have any idea if trains in this part of China are packed at this time of year?

      thanks in advance

      Wuhan Mar 19, 2007 at 10:47 PM

We will be living in Guangshui in the Hubei province and will be visiting Wuhan regularly for shopping etc. I am trying to find out if one can purchase hair dye/tint as my hairdresser in N.Z. is going to show us how to do it. I understand that one is not supposed to transport it on the plane with you - at least only in very very small quantities. The product I am keen on buying is L'Oreal which is produced in China but am not sure if it is available for the western market ie blonde tints. Also if when one tries to buy it from a western section of the shop etc if it is bilingual as far as the product name and instructions. Any help would be appreciated regarding this subject as well as good hairdressers in Wuhan for a trim etc.
