I am flying into Wuhan and need to find my way to Yichang for my Yangtze river cruise at the same day. I have some questions: 1) Is taking the bus from Wuhan to Yichang the quickest and the best way? 2) The long distance bus station at Xinhua road, Hankou. is where I board the bus to Yichang. 3) How often the bus ran from Wuhan to Yichang? 4) How far is the airport to the bus station approximately? Thanks Jim
Has anyone been to Jingzhou? We're going there for one of the stops on our May holiday trip and are looking for some tips/recommendations. Or, personal experiences/opinions also welcome! 1) How do you move on to Wudangshan, from Jingzhou? I guess it doesn't make sense to go back to Yichang to try and catch a train. Are there direct buses from Jingzhou? If not, where should we change... probably at Xiangfan? 2) How long would you allow for sightseeing in Jingzhou? We were planning on perhaps 3 hours, but wondering if it's too long or too short.
Looking for opinions (pros/cons, feasibility etc) on the 3 options we have for our itinerary, May holidays. We will be travelling in a group of 2-4 Mandarin speakers. Thanks in advance all. hello, I'm about to jump off of a hydrofoil in Yichang and take a train to Xian, while making a two-three day stop in Wudang Shan. Time: the last week of October, 2007. I'll be in a company of three friends, all first time in China, almost no command of Chinese I've had a look at train.hepost.com, and there is a train K625/K628 with a stop in Wudang Shan I've heard one cannot book railway tickets in China earlier than 5 days from the trip date. I have also heard there may be difficulties (ticket availability-wise) with catching a train on a midway station sorry if I sound a bit too fidgety. Do you have any idea if trains in this part of China are packed at this time of year? thanks in advance

My cruise ends in Wuhan and the ship arrives at the pier at around 12:00 noon. 1. By what time must I be at the airport for my flight departing at 18:30? 2. From where can I catch the airport bus? 3. Is the airport stop near the pier? If not, how do I get there from the pier? 4. What can I do/see in that little time I have before laving for the airport? Thanks...
I am looking for accommodation in or near Suizhou, I'm having no luck looking on the internet. I have found Lishan Hotel, however I understand this is very average and was wondering if there were any other choices.
We will be living in Guangshui in the Hubei province and will be visiting Wuhan regularly for shopping etc. I am trying to find out if one can purchase hair dye/tint as my hairdresser in N.Z. is going to show us how to do it. I understand that one is not supposed to transport it on the plane with you - at least only in very very small quantities. The product I am keen on buying is L'Oreal which is produced in China but am not sure if it is available for the western market ie blonde tints. Also if when one tries to buy it from a western section of the shop etc if it is bilingual as far as the product name and instructions. Any help would be appreciated regarding this subject as well as good hairdressers in Wuhan for a trim etc.

Hi, I'm planning to travel from Chongqing to Yichang by local passenger boat. I want to stop off at a couple of cities along the way, and also see the lesser gorges. Is this possible using local boats? Also have you any idea of the cost of a cabin. I'd appreciate any useful tips anyone may have : )

Hi, I would like to do the Yangtze as short as feasible and not on a cruiser. I've planned to take a passenger boat from Yichang to Fengjie or Wushan and then a hydrofoil back to Yichang. The other option is to first take the hydrofoil and then a passenger boat back. I found quite much info at www.chinadam.com, but a couple of things I couldn't find. So here are my questions: - is there accomodation in Fengjie (also called Yong'an) and Wushan? Is there budget accomodation -> what is the price-level? - at what times does passenger boats and hydrofoils leave from Fengjie and Wushan towards Yichang? The other way around there are loads of info at www.chinadam.com - at what time should the passenger boat leave from Yichang or Fengjie in order to see all 3 gorges in daylight? Is it even possible in one day? Approx. when does it get too dark to see anyhting? - at what time does hydrofoils leave Chongqing and when do the arrive in Fengjie? Any piece of information appreciated :) Thomas
