I'll be attending a wedding in Honolulu and will be there for Halloween. A coworker tells me that he and his wife happened to be there for Halloween several years ago and the Waikiki area was filled with costumed party goers. The last time I was in Honolulu, the Waikiki area didn't have many locals hanging out except for the 'models' and their 'managers' showing up at bars trying to win the bikini contest prize money. Can anyone give me the lay of the land for Halloween in Honolulu (annual parties, current best clubs for Halloween, contests, dances, singles etc.)? Am single and will be traveling alone. Oh and what type of costumes to expect at different events? Rent/high end, typical store bought, half hearted attempts, beach themed, sexy, etc. Sorry for being long winded and thanks in advance for any help, Grey
Aloha, Yes it is big time on Halloween on Kalakaua St in Waikiki. Everyboby, locals, military, and tourists will jam the street for many blocks( so will Hawaii 50) with a lot of the partying going on along Lewers St. and Kalakaua. Costumes galore and a lot without costumes, just regular clothes, but it is a fun night out in Waikiki.
