I am bringing my parents to Hong Kong in a few months' time. This is their first time in HK and I would like to show them around the place. My dad's leg isn't really good, so he may need to stop for rest from time to time (e.g. coffee place). Appreciate if someone could throw some ideas for 3 days. So far I have planned for itinerary for 1 day in Macau and a day in tung chung citygate then to Lantau Island. But quite at a lost with the remaining 3 days.
Hi. Have you yourself been to HKG? With yr Dad mobility I do not suggest you cover Macau with such short time in HKG. Think it will be tiring for him and you know HKG is a very crowded place. I would suggest just be around in Kowloon and HKG.

True... I was playing around with the idea though. Maybe I will extend the one day in Macau, total of 5 days then. Peak is also out since the queue to the tram is way too long and he might not be able to withstand standing too long either. :\

I have to "unscrape" the Peak Tram. But any advise on where to go after 6pm from the Peak?

Hong Kong has all the facilities to make your parents comfortable. But you will have to plan out exactly where you want to take them. Since HK has quite a bit of walking in between station changes and otherwise too. Yes, there are ample lifts etc. But to make sure you get your parents to the destination as quickly as possible, you can use the HK MTR website to plan. Following is the rough idea about sightseeing you can do. 1) Uee MTR - MTR drops you @ every major place in HK. Use their website to plan your routes. Grab a 3 day MTR pass which offers unlimited rides on MTR network with specific free Airport Express rides or ofcourse use cabs which could little expensive. 2) Shopping - Tons and Tons of shopping depending on the budget and your needs etc Apart from the Malls - Harbour City, Langham place, isquare, Elements etc etc which are very high end ; You can visit - Ladies Market ( MongKok ), Jade Market for ladies (exactly opp Tin Hau Temple ( get off @ Yau Ma Tei MTR and hail a cab or walk 15 mins towards Tin Hau Temple which is a good place to visit ), Repulse Bay ( on the route of Ocean park ) 3) Other places you must visit are - Giant Buddha ( a must ) - Go to Tung Chung ( CIty Gate Mall ) walk 2 mins and Take the cable car and walk ( 10 mins ) thru the village towards Giant Buddha - Note - Lot of steps to be climbed to reach the Giant Buddha Peak ( after 4.30 pm for day n night view . Note - very crowded @ this time ) Avenue of stars ( light show @ 8 pm ) Take a "Big Bus Tour", discoverhongkong.com/eng/loc... Ocean park if interested - but LOTS of walking Disney - But again lots of walking Take Care Kaps

Typo In point 1 - I meant "Use MTR" and NOT Uee MTR :)

Thanks for the ideas. Definitely going to the Buddha (fourth time this round -_-') my dad may not be able to walk up the steps but he is fine with waiting while my mum and myself head up. I have planned up the 4 - 5 days of itinerary, including Macau. Hopefully it will work out. ^_^

Hi Sukino If you been to Buddha. I guess you are waiting for some new ideas and places to pop in. But I am still unclear of why you would be asking for ideas when you seem to know HK well considering your prior 3 visits to Giant Buddha :)

Mostly, with the same-age group wise, I would have gone to the Flower market, and maybe Ladies market, but my parents aren't really the shopping kind. So kinda need some more ideas. I will be going to the big buddha still, since it is their first trip.

YMCA Salisbury Hotel is not a bad choice if you prefer to stay around Tsim Sha Tsui,. The rate is around170-200. It's very near to Victoria Harbour. hongkonghotelsreservation.co...
