How best to take our spending money? Can we just use our Australian eftpos cards are ATM machines available for withdrawing cash? Or should we just take cash and Credit Cards? Thanks in advance
You can use ATM cards to withdraw cash... In Singapore we found it easier to use ATM cards to withdraw cash as we needed it and make purchases with credit cards. Hong Kong would be the same. Also, would be a good idea to buy some Hong Kong dollars before you go. Cheers Col & Sue

I used my eftpos card or visa debit everywhere in Hong Kong. I got some HK dollars at the airport and that got me into town from there it was a breeze using cash or cards. Just like home really.... Have a great time

Take cash to avoid the extra ATM charges. Im from NZ and I got stung big time with bank charges. Use Credit Cards for the big purchases, but you'll save money in the long run if you take HK Dollars with you.

Dear Robyn, It is always good to bring cash unless you're staying there for more than two weeks. It's safe and you can save quite a lot. Do standby one or twn credit cards for any emergency or big ticket items. Since someone mentioned that there's no problem using Australian eftpos cards, just bring it along in case you need more cash. Cheers, Kelvin

On my recent trip around Asia the average fee for using ATM machines was10.00 AUD each time - take HK cash, and if you like good Tapas go to Boca in Peel St Soho on the Island.
