Local "Gewürztraminer" more acidy and more expensive than in Rh-Pfalz?

      Alsace Sep 24, 2015 at 10:57 PM

Tried several. In France all were bought at LeClerc + Auchan + Norma + Aldi.
In Germany from a local farm.

Not sure why, but my Alsatian wine experiments weren't as successful as "farm experiments" in Germany.
Maybe because I should compare apples with apples and not with (sour) grape?

I.e. buy the wine from a farm?

Had a similar experiment few month ago in Hungary (Auchan Hungary wine versus farmer).
It was a day and night difference.

From CDG to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame taking the Taxi or the RER train & questions.

      Paris Sep 16, 2015 at 10:42 AM

There will be 4 of us arriving at CDG airport and traveling to a hotel near the Metro, Saint-Michel. Using a taxi as compared to the RER train, what would you recommend? Comparing convenience, cost, time and anything else? Also, when I look at a map it seems that the Saint-Michel Notre-Dame RER station is a different than the Metro Saint-Michel which is walking distance from our hotel. According to the map the RER station is a bit longer walk or are the really the same underground? We would be arriving mid day. Thank you.

      transfer time needed

      Paris Sep 28, 2015 at 3:12 PM

      Hi all

We're looking into flying to South Africa.
We have found a very favorable price flying from Düsseldorf to Paris CDG.
The transfer time is 1h35 minutes.
Do you think this will be enough to go through the necessary checks and still be on time for our connection to Johannesburg?
Since the tickets has departure Dssd and destination Jnb and this transfer time is what KLM calculates, I guess this should be enough?
Never been to CDG yet, so I don't have a clue how chaotic or organised things are around there ...

      Thanks for your input!

    • Paris Visite vs. 10 t+ Ticket Carnet

      Paris Oct 4, 2015 at 11:18 PM

I will be visiting Paris next year for 3 days and will be staying at Nanterre (near the RER station Nanterre Prefecture-Zone 3). I will be making around 10-12 trips during my stay in and around centre of Paris and will also be going to Disneyland and Bateaux Parisiens river cruise (4 Euro discount with Paris Visite card). Please let me know if the Paris Visite card for 3 days, Zone 1-3 (for 26 Euros per person), will be cost effective or not. Or should I go for carnet of 10 t+ tickets for 14 Euros.? I will have to commute through RER A for most trips to Paris centre, & I believe the t+ tickets are valid only for RER on Zone 1 and not on Zone 3.

      Awaiting reply on priority.

    • Bus to Honfleur from Le Havre

by kirian88 Online Now Jun 14, 2015 at 2:39 PM

I will be stopping in Le Havre for the day while on a cruise this Sept (the actual day we will be in port is Friday, Sept 4). I want to take a day trip via public bus to Honfleur, but I am having an extremely difficult time getting info on precisely how to do that. Every bus time table I can find online ends on August 31st and is only in French. My French is no where near good enough to figure it out, so I hope someone can help.

My basic questions are, 1) what is the approx cost each way, 2) how far is the nearest bus stop from the cruise ship port, 3) what are the names of the stops I need to know on the bus schedule (in other words, what is my stop name in each town where I will get on/off the bus) 4) what bus number do I take & 5) how often do they run on a weekday at that time of the year?

I really want to spend my time in this lovely town without having to be on a formal tour group.... and I don't want to take a taxi that I have to have sit and wait for me... I just want to walk around at my leisure and soak in the sights. Any guidance or suggestions would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks!

Me And my husband will be in Paris this June and we intend to do some day trips. One of them will be to Honfleur, we´ve been there some years ago and loved it. This time, we would like to sleep there one night not to rush back to Paris at the end of the day. Is it easy to find a bed and breakfast without reservation at this time? We would like to decide on the date of our day trips as we go, not compromising with it in advance. Thanks for your help.

Hi if we stay in Honfleur from Sept 13th until the 27th will it still be busy with tourists about and cafés and restaurants still open? We are a bit concerned as we have stayed in Northern France a different area before late season and it seemed the whole place was closing down, last year we travelled over the South side of France so as things would still be open, we don't expect it to be like July, but would like to still have choice of places to eat and drink and people watching to do?

My husband and I are driving off the eurotunnel at Calais and taking a slow drive through Normandy and down to a rented gite in Brittany. We have decided to stop off on the way at Honfleur for a night. Can any one tell me if it's easy driving in or should we park somewhere (any free parking???) and walk in? We have a baby with us so it would need to be a reasonable distance if we walked into town. We have not booked a b&b or hotel as we have the option of the extra night at our b&b we're booked into from the following night so we thought we'd just take a chance and try our luck for a room. Any tips?
