Did someone recommend a rental car in Honduras?

Sorry, I forgot, but it seems to me that at least one person recommended a rental car. Normally, I'm a chicken bus rider, not a rental car fan (I'm a truck driver and normally I don't like to drive when not working). But, we have the credit card reward points, its seems, and I'm thinking we might actually be able to get around a little quicker if I drive. I don't want to cut ourselves out of adventure due to anchoring ourselves to a rental car though, and in some places rental cars invite thieves....
