Any advice on short-term rentals?

I'm trying to plan a family reunion in the Poconos for this summer. Like to rent a 6-8 bedroomed house near the water. The web shows a myriad of such properties with a wide range of prices. If anyone has any recommendations, please post your experience. Thanks! ~Mark
