Actually, Benh Than markets are great for local food stalls. With an interest in food, don't forget to look at the back of Benh Than markets just outside the main building where you will find all the fresh (and alive) produce! Apart from that, walking the local streets including in and around Dong Khoi will provide you with plenty of options from stalls to fine dining.

Ben Thanh markets are absolutely wonderful in HCMC. I agree about all the fresh produce near the back of the markets - fish, seafood, meat, etc. There are also some great food stalls inside the markets. District 1 in HCMC also has a wide range of restaurants mainly located around Dong Khoi street. Wander around and you will see that there are plenty of places to eat. Have culinary fun!!
