hotels in siagon and hanoi

by japappy Online Now Jan 19, 2012 at 7:38 PM

Hi what are the good hotels in siagon and hanoi, I have a budget of between AUS$ 100.00 to150.00 per day. We want to be close to the action/tourist/ food stalls and use the hotels as a good starting base daily. We want to be near the shopping and the night action (not discos) but tourist night action. Also any good tours to do and is it best to find a local tourist guide and use that person daily as we do in Thailand. Thanks

We stayed in the silk path hotel. Really nice hotel close to the lake. we booked through agoda , it is cheaper that way.

I am not a fan of sites like Agoda because they are more expensive than reserving through the hotel itself. With respect, the idea that a third party can charge less than the hotel and still stay in business doesn't make sense. How can a company stay in business unless they charge a fee? I happen to know the business model for these online resellers, and I can tell you, if the customer isn't paying the fee, the hotel is. In either case if you check both sources, as I did, you will see that the hotel itself, silk path hotel, is cheaper to reserve from their own website. Please do your own due diligence before choosing a third party reseller.

We also stayed in the legend hotel in Saigon, it is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. I always check multiple websites and the hotel website before booking and yes it sometimes is cheaper to go through a third party website who have bulk buying power and whom the hotel knows is more likely to be able to sell a room than by randomly stumbling across the hotel website. I hope you have a great time in Vietnam and find somewhere nice to stay.

I have stayed several times at the Kim Do hotel in Saigon and that has the best location in town in my opinion. Smack in the center, right next to all the action and the rooms are nice and big. I have a review of the hotel on this link with some photos from there that i took myself: Ho Chi Minh City Hotel Tips by cachaseiro

the AUS$ 100.00 to150.00 budget is for hotel room daily NOT our spending budget in total. We are prepared to pay the 100.00 to 150.00 for room.

Japappy, do you want to spend the150 or do you want a comfortable hotel? The recommendations are for comfortable hotels of good quality that can be found without the need to spend all of your dollars. If you want to spend it all and get the most bang for your buck in terms of a better standard then stick to the more touristy hotels. In Saigon that would be the Continental, Parkroyal, Rex, Grand, and Majestic. In Hanoi it would be Nikko, Grand Plaza, Hilton Hanoi opera, Somerset Westlake, and the Sheraton. However, in my view these hotels are not worth the extra50 -100 per night when there are good local hotels with clean, large rooms, and air-conditioning as I've said in response to your other post. For example, take a look at the Huong Sen in Saigon: at around60 per night located on Dong Khoi and with a pool it is exceptional value and has real character.

I recommend Elios Hotel in Pham Ngu lao St in Saigon, its clean hotel and breakfast are good. The hotel is walking distance to Ben Tahn Market and Dong Koi.

It's very easy to book hotel both in Saigon and Hanoi with that budget In my opinion, you can stay at Palace hotel or Duxton hotel in Saigon (in downtown area, around 70-90USD) For the hotel in Hanoi, you can book at Hanova hotel (35-37 Hang Trong Street, the room is quite small but so beautiful,I always booked for my boss in his business trip) Hope my information is useful for you
