Myrtle Beach May 2, 2013 at 2:16 AM

Hi 3 friends and myself are heading to Myrtle beach at the end of the month to work. We have a motel confirmed but are trying to find a condo/apartment with cooking facilities etc. Also we are confused about Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. Which one would be better for j1 students in terms of nightlife,jobs,accommodation....
Is north myrtle beach more of a golf/upclass resort? We are finding it hard to get accommodation in the main myrtle beach area. Any info greatly appreciated.
      Thanks

Where to stay for 1 night?

Myrtle Beach May 4, 2013 at 7:52 AM

On Our Route down to Miami we have planned for an overnight stop at (North) Myrtle Beach. But in fact, finding a place to stay seems to be difficult as we don't really like these gigantic, overcrowded complexes and hidden Gems like B&B's do not seem to exist in this area. Also it might be close to impossible to rent a condo for just 1 night. So Your help would be highly appreciated.

      Dolphins in late March

by MeganL89 Online Now Mar 23, 2013 at 5:20 PM

We are currently staying in shipyard plantation until the day before Easter. I would love to know where the best places to view dolphins are at and if they're best seen at high tide or lower. We will be taking a dolphin cruise near the end of our stay but we'd all love to view them sooner! Thank you all.

Big Group - where to stay Cheap!

by kateylou Online Now Dec 10, 2009 at 9:01 AM

Looking for an inexpensive place to stay on Hilton Head. We have about ten people in our group, but we don't need beds for everyone. We don't mind sleeping on the floor, couch, whatever, if it will save some money. I was thinking a house or condo rental would be best so we can have access to a kitchen. We are a bunch of 30 year old ladies, no kids, no pets - just celebrating our 30th birthdays with a trip to Hilton Head. We are looking at four nights in June 2010. I know alot of renatls are concerned with having more people stay than there are available beds, but beds for 10 people gets pretty pricey!! Maybe an independent homeowner who won't be home for a weekend in June and wouldn't mind renting their place to a bunch of very responsible former Girl Scouts? Anyone know a place like that to rent? I would offer to house swap, if anyone is interested in coming to Columbus, Ohio. :) Thanks!!

    • Any Ferries or Water Travel directly from HHI to Savannah?

by kenvil63 Online Now Jul 22, 2007 at 1:06 PM

My wife and I plan to stay at a time share the week of November 3 and use HHI as our base of operations to visit both Charleston and Savannah FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR ALL THREE PLACES. We plan to book one night at a Charleston hotel and stay over, stretching our visit to two consecutive days. (Holiday Inn sounds great--Trip Advisor) We would like to cut down on our driving after that excursion. Are there any sailings directly from HHI to Savannah? I know there's a ferry to another island. How about Savannah? Or, should we also plan to stay over one night in Savannah? Many thanks for taking the time to read this and for any tips you can give us. Kenvil

I am going to stay at the Comfort Inn. I know there are 4 public access sites to the beach and was thinking about trying to bike in between two access points. Do you think this would work?

Any Events Scheduled for First Week of March?

by sgoet Online Now Jan 22, 2006 at 12:21 AM

We are flying in the HH Airport at about 11 PM on March 4 for a week. I'm presuming they have taxi service. We are hoping not everything is closed down for the winter. Are there any events on or around the Island during that week? We would like to take a day trip to Savannah. If you had to choose between Beaufort and Charleston for a day trip, which would you pick? (We like Civil War history) The rest of the time we would like to stay on the island to ride bikes, kayak, hike.

I would rather not spend my vacation researching this stuff. We are also on a budget so any tips about saving alittle money or things that are definitely worth the money would be well apperciated. • Outdoor Adventure Suggestions

by Ohiocondor Online Now Jun 27, 2005 at 12:33 PM

I am going to Hilton Head with my in-laws late this summer. Not my first choice in vacation options, but occassionally one has to oblige in order to keep famililial harmony. Anyway, I am looking for some outdoor activities I can partake that will help me keep my sanity throughout the week. I love to kayak and have my own whitewater boat that I could probably bring along. Are there any stretches of beach with low population densities that I could kayak the surf without having to worry about hitting swimmers? Also, how big is the surf, 2 ft, 4 ft, 6 ft? Four to six feet would be ideal. I read a post in off the beaten path about sea kayaking. Any recommendations on outfitters to contact regarding renting a boat? Also, could anyone recommend a good kayak guide with good (away from touristy areas) routes? Any good hiking paths? I read a little about the Audobon Newhall Preserve. Could anyone recommend some good hiking paths there? Any other hiking paths in natural areas with no development? Any other wildlife viewing opportunities? How about fishing? Where would a person go to do some saltwater fishing (I don't imagine you can on the public beaches can you)? Do you need a license? And can you recommend a few deep sea fishing guides (I don't know if it would be feasible to hire a guide for some deep sea fishing since I would be the only one in my group interested, but I would like to get some prices and see if I could possibly join another group for the day)? Wave runners? I would be interested in any other ideas you might have. I love the beach and being in the sun, but I hate just sitting there baking. I can't stand spending the afternoon in tiki huts or bars, and I really don't care for being around lots of other people (I know it sounds bad, but my idea of vacation is getting away from people rather than going where there are large numbers of them). I love the outdoors, nature, wildlife, etc... I apologize for the length of the post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! We are going to be in Hilton Head at the Grand Ocean Marriot and wonder if you know of any jogging/biking trails on the island or in a nearby area? Or any neat hiking areas? We may try to get to Tybee Island, etc. What is there to do on Fripp Island, Skidway Island, etc.? Can you recommend nearby places to go? (We've been to Savannah and Beaufort and Ft. Pulaski.) Any recommended tours of Charleston or things to see/ reasonably-priced places to eat? Any events scheduled that you know of during the first week of March? (exhibits, fun runs, festivals in the area, etc.) We went to Savannah and Beaufort when we were in H.H. in Nov. of 2002. How's the weather? Too cold to kayak? Thanks for any info!
