I just wanted to know if there are any tennis courts in Santorini that are independent i.e. not attached to any hotel and open to public. We are staying in Fira for a week. If there are any, do they provide racquets to adults and kids?

My wife and I are fortunate enough to have 3 weeks to spend in Crete this coming summer; woot!
Our main interests are; 1) Seeing historical sites; 2) Enjoying charming towns and good tavernas; and 3) Seeing the ocean.
That said, we are at a quandary regarding where to stay. We do NOT want to move around every few days, so have come up with a few options:
1) Spend 1 week in Sitia, seeing the eastern part of the island; Spend 1 week in Rethymno; Spend 1 week in Chania....and of course, a couple nights Iraklion to fly in and out and see Knossos.
2) Spend 1.5 weeks in Rethymno; and 1.5 weeks in Chania
3) Spend 1.5 weeks in Chania OR Rethymno; spend 1.5 weeks somewhere in the south.
So.... what does everybody think?

Hello . I will be arriving in Naxos on 4th May 2013 ,Easter Saturday . I am staying in Agia Anna . Will there be any shops open so I can buy water & basic groceries . Also I read about a farmers market just outside Chora , how often is this on ?

I would like to know how people travel in and around Athens, Greece? Can we rent a car and drive around or their train system or metro is as good as Italy or any other European countries. Can we take some day trips to Greek Islands? Any suggested ferries websites? Any info on Greek travel would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'll be in Santorini for 3 days (early July) with a couple of friends and we're looking for a cheap/decent place to stay if possible. We found out that there's a lot of accommodations in Fira, Imerovigli and Perissa.
However, we'll still unsure of which area would be the best in terms of prices and its accessibility to other areas in santorini. Basically, our itinerary for the 3 days would be to explore around as much and also to relax and enjoy the sceneries. Hope to get some insights. =)
Currently have 4 days booked in Santorini. Travelling on my own and starting to think that it will be too long. Thinking of going back to Mykonos for the other 2 days. More things to do for a single gay guy. Will 2 days be enough to see the sights of Santorini?

I am visiting Santorini in last week of May for a week with my family. My wife is vegetarian. Will we get vegetarian restaurants ( No fish, no eggs , milk etc is fine ) and also if we decide to cook at home, will we get veg pasta and veggies in grocery shop. If there is an issue , I m planning to carry some of the items from UK.
In santorini we are staying in Fira.
Any thoughts / tips / suggestions

I would like to know how to visit some of the of Greek islands for example Santoroni, Mekonos, Naxos may be Rhodes from Ahtens? how many days we need to travel , I feel one day may not be enough. Please advice me.
I am also thinking in this way, please let me know if this is good. Since we are coming to Istanabul first and planning to fly to Athens after few days in Istanabul, may be we should drive down to Izmir take a ferry from there to these islands and finally reach Athens instead of flying. What do you guys suggest about that route? If we do this way which port we should start on Turkey side? and how many days we need to reach Athens from there. We dont want to spend more time in each island, we just want to have a feel of that place. We are planning to go there later again in few years. I would appreciate as much as information you can give to help me plan my trip, thanks in advance
Hi! Will be travelling to Heraklion & Chania in early June with my wife & 12-yr old son. Need to quickly firm up the hotels.
I've been told that the best place to stay in Heraklion is on the 25th August Street. Can someone recommend some hotels there? Or would I find better hotels elsewhere? My budget is approx. Euro150 per night.
In Chania I've been told that we should be staying on the harbour... is it a good suggestion? Budget remains the same, i.e. Euro150 per night.

Can anyone tell me whether there is public transportation from Heraklion to Plakias? We will be touring Greece in late Sept./early Oct. We have made arrangements to leave our organized tour when we reach Heraklion, Crete (the last stop before we return to Athens). We want to go to Plakias to visit a friend who lives there. Hello, I am traveling to Crete on the 9th of June and I need a double room in a budget hotel or bed and breakfast in Heraklion for one night. Ideally under £30 per night and within walking distance of the venetian fort . I have run various searches on the internet but I keep ending up with the same, upmarket,expensive hotels in Heraklion centre or in the surrounding area.I understand that smaller establishments perhaps don't advertise on the internet, has anyone got any recommendations? thanks!

Is there a reasonable way to get from Heraklion, Crete to Tel Aviv on June 24, 2007? We would prefer not to fly back to Athens and make multiple stops on the way, thereby using up a full day to get there. We did find one non-stop on Expedia, but it leaves in the middle of the night. Are there small plane flights? charters? Ferrys? We are a family of 4.

It looks like I'll be flying into Heraklion from Athens and arriving in the early evening. I would like to spend one night there, then see Knossos and the archeological musuem before catching a bus west to Rethymnon. Can someone recommend an inexpensive hotel in Heraklion? If possible I'd like to be within walking distance of the museum and the main bus stop that is located by the waterfront. It must be a private room though, no dorms. I have emailed Hotel Lena asking about their rates but they have not sent a response yet. Thank you.

What is the best way to get around Crete? i was thinking of renting a car but i wasn't sure if parking is an issue in Heraklion as we want to visit the museum. i wasn't sure if we should get a taxi from the airport to the hotel in Heraklion, visit the museum and then rent a car as we will be leaving the city.
