The annual Tall Ships Race in Helsinki is coming closer. It will be 17-20-7-2013 this year. It's an enormous event when over 100 huge, old ships are competing! I have never seen this before and my question to you is: Where is the best place to be for watching this awesome event? I really look forward to it and I encourage all of you to be there! There is a lot more to do and see also. Be there!
We plan to see RUSH at Hartwall Arena tomorrow. It seems the concert will last 3 hours (tickets write it starts at 20.00) so I wonder how we will return back home (siilitie metro station) if we get out of the concert hall after 23.20.
Will we have have time to return to the center and catch the metro?
If not which buses should we take?
we plan to visit Espoo on sunday. Does it really worth it? what can we see there? reading about it I realize it is a big city with ugly buildings that probably is a bit boring for the average tourist and hard to navigate without a car.
The only thing that seems interesting is Nuuksio National park that has some nice trails. I still dont know how we can reach it from Helsinki (starting from Siilitien metroasema).
Do we have to take a bus to Espoo first? which stop? and then another bus to the park? I see 28 goes to southern part of the park but I dont know where it departs in Espoo.
how can I reach Siilitien metroasema from the airport without a taxi?
we will have 5 day regional two zone-ticket.
we arrive at the aiport at 13.00 on a weekday
we'll be in helsinki for 5 days, staying near Siilitien metroasema.
Including the metro ride we will use public transport twice a day (some days 4), .
what is the best option for us? is the 5 day ticket the best option? does it include the ride from the airport the first day or is it a different zone?
As someone who works in wholesale travel, I have booked super cheap flights to Europe with QF/AY on a travel agent special.
I am concerned about the short transit time in HEL though. Anyone offer any tips on whether they have achieved the transit? I have heard that HEL is a good quick airport.
Thanks

Hey there!
I've heard that there is a Restaurant Day in Helsinki every year. It is a popular event that started in Helsinki a couple of years ago and have spread over the whole world. It's a day when anybody can have a restaurang of their own in a whole day and sell food in different ways. If I'm right there are more than one restaurang day/year. My question to you is: When is the next Restaurant Day? I would like to be a part of it.
Thanks for answer!

How safe is it for a woman to travel alone at night (about 11 pm) from Airport to Mannerheimintie by Taxi?
My dad and i are going on a Scandinavia cruise and are at a toss-up when it comes to picking the excursion for Helsinki. We have narrowed it down to 2 tours. Both are the same except one has a "visit" to Sibelius Park and Monument and the other Sees (not actually visits) Suomenlinna Fortress. Any opinions?
Thirty years ago when I was in Helsinki in January or early February we went to a park where there was a kind of flea market and also some huge ice scupltures (including a giant WC). All I recall apart from that is there seemed to be apartments across the road on at least one side of the park. I think it was a Saturday, the stalls were selling new items displayed on long tables - clothing craft, jewellery etc (not a flea market). I am sure it was winter as there was snow everywhere and my feet were frozen! Does the market or the ice scuplture display still exist and if so, where is it and when is the market held?
What is your advice for buying a micro SIM for an unlocked Iphone at Helsinki? Is it possible to do it at the airport upon arrival? I just need a pay as you go micro SIM with a data plan (3G) in order to have a good internet connection for a period of 7 days. Regards! Omar.

we plan to stay for 4 days in Helsinki. if we add 3-4 extra days is Tampere a good choice? any suggestion of things to do/see in Tampere? We wont use a car just a local bus or train, so is it easy to do it from the capital? our flight back is from Helskini at 14.00. do we have enough time to come from Tampere earlier that day or should be in Helskini the day before to be on the safe side?
1.Are 4 full days enough for proper sightseeing of Helsinki in early june? we like to see good museums, landmarks of the city, a nice park and a local market. 2.what kind of weather should we expect at that time?
Hi from Australia, I'm going to be in Hesinki on the 2nd and 3rd January 2012 are these markets operating at this time ?? Can anyone help please Mermaid
How big are the ferries to st. Petersburg? I am not a cruise person and the few times I have been on hydrofoil type boats in was nautious (sp?) by the time I got off. If we did this, it would be perhaps next summer, so I'm guessing the sea isn't too horribly rough then.
Hi! Can you recomend museums to visit tomorrow in Helsinki? Are any museums for free in mondays? Not expensive cafes in the city centre? Thanks
We are going to Paris in Oct, 2012 and have an 8 hour layover (planned) in Helsinki. We would like to go into the city without our carryon luggage. Is there a place to keep them at the airport? Also, what is the cheapest, dependable way to get in and out and how much time should we allow? Thanks for any and all help.
We will be in Helsinki for one day on a cruise (in July 2012). Any suggestions for a nice restaurant that is NON TOURISTY and which serves typical Finnish food? This will be for lunch.
We are going to Kalasatama to see Metallica at monday. How late does the metro run? What other options there are to come back to the centre? I guess we wont be only one going back, so there coul be a plan b just in case we miss the metro.. Buses and trams I think, but how we know we go to right way? Would be nice to know and not to need to ask for a driver. Are the cellphone tickets still in use?
I need to get to the airport by 6 AM on Sunday (so I probably need to get on the bus around 5:30 AM), will the 615 or the Finnair bus be running that early? Or will I have to take a taxi? Anyone know where I can find a schedule?
Hello! I would like to ask what is the cheapest way to get from Tallinn to Helsinki? How much it could cost both ways? If a date is important, trip could be planned from September. Thank you! Greetings! Raimis.
I'll be visiting Helsinki in April and I've only got a few days in the city so I'm trying to figure out where everything is so that I can maximize my sightseeing. I'm trying to create a map of everything there is to do and see in the city based on stuff from this site as well as others. Does anyone see any glaring omissions for attractions that I've missed? communitywalk.com/helsinki_f... I'm going to be taking a ferry to Tallinn when I leave the city too... does anyone know the address/location of the docks? I want to plot that on there too but am not sure where it is yet.
will there be enough time to leave the airport and visit a little of the city? In Oct, is it cold? If I have time, what would be good for me and my family to see or experience?
Hi, We are planning 1-day trip to Helsinki with 11 mounths children in March. We will be on foot and weather will be probably not warm. Are there places where we can feed child? In cafes in shoping centres? Child eats only baby feed. Something interesting to visit in the city centre? thanks
