Honey moon in Hawaii

by Zahrazohouri Online Now May 22, 2012 at 8:49 AM

I am looking for a hotel/resort for a week in Hawaii. I have never been to this island. This should be a relaxing fun and good for night life place. I also love to have easy access to beach. Thanks

Are you set on the Big Island (Hawaii state of)? If so, you can easily do Kona and Hilo - Hilo is where the volcano National park is. I personally would opt for Maui for variety, choice of snorkeling packages as well as hiking, gorgeous honeymoon hotels/packages & resorts. For nightlife however (if you mean clubbing) - you can't beat Oahu/Honolulu. Think South Beach in Miami...that's the best way to describe it. Full of high rises, very crowded, touristy. To us, our least favorite island but seems to fit your bill.

@Zahra, FYI The State of Hawaii is not one island but a group of many islands, including Oahu, where Honolulu is located and the most touristy (except, perhaps, the North Shore which is less so, imho), the Big Island of Hawaii, Kuai, Maui, Molokai etc. (hope I got the spellings correct!) If you are thinking of Waikiki (the most over-rated beach in the world imho!) it is in Oahu and it should have the fun and nightlife/easy access to the beach that you are looking for.

@ Sheherazad - thank you. I realized after typing my response I wasn't clear and I was trying to make the same point as you. I was trying to get a feel for what the OP was meaning by "State of Hawaii". It's funny how some people just assume Oahu or even "Honolulu" (which is Oahu) is what "state of Hawaii" means.

For a honeymoon go to Kauai. Not as crowded and less to do but on a honeymoon you should not be looking for things to do.

Aloha. Congratulations. Hawaii is a great location for a honeymoon and for me the Island of Maui is no ka 'oe (the best). Laid back days and slack key guitars at night. The blossoms of Hawaii send their fragrant calling day and night. The sound of the waves, the softness of the sand. Palm trees swaying from the tropical breeze. Great driving views of the Hana Highway and the dormant volcano that you can drive up to see in the crater, Haleakala. The view from the top is unbelievable. Night life in the Ka'anapali Village or in the seaside whaling town of Lahaina, only a few minutes from Ka'anapali, is great with many restaurants and music and the best Luau, in my opinion, at the Old Lahaina Luau. This is my Hawaii and it could be your magical Island for your honeymoon, on the Island of Maui, Hawaii. My favorite location on Maui is at the Royal Lahaina Resort at the north end of Ka'anapali, staying in one of the cottages next to the beautiful large beach. I have a travelogue on the Royal Lahaina on my VT Maui pages: "MAUI "No Ka 'Oi"" - Maui by travelgourmet For a complete review of Maui is at the Virtual Tourist Maui Travel Guide: Maui Travel Guide Where you stay and which Island is up to you. May this piece of paradise be a fantastic memory for your honeymoon. Aloha 'oe.
