Hi guys im travelling to the big island its my first vist and im only staying 2 nights, just wondering what is the best area to base myself in Hilo or Kona?.
What are your plans for the Big Island? Relaxing on the beach? Volcanoes? What you hope to do and see makes a difference in where you stay, especially with limited time on the island. Will you have a car or use public transportation?

I've been to both. Hilo gets more rain, and for that reason alone I'd say Kona. Both are very different. Kona is more touristy, but you should enjoy it if only for two days.

Well, Brenda had a reason for asking. Why are you going to the Big Island? Is it to relax in the sun, or are you interested in the volcano? Kona for the relaxing part, and Hilo for the volcano. Aloha nui loa......d:o)
