Hat Yai ... 1st timer

by mthl79 Online Now Feb 17, 2009 at 6:50 PM

Hi all, I am planning a short 3 days 2 night trip, trip to Hat Yai ... next week, Planning to take a night bus to Hat Yai from Kuala Lumpur: Question: 1. Can I purchase a return bus ticket to KL or do I need to purchase it from Hat Yai? 2. I notice Lee Garden Hotel has been mentioned a couple of times, is it central located? is there other hotels nearby (I am looking at below 1000bath a night) 3. What is the rate like for a simple room? I am planning to walk-in, instead of booking online, wanna be a bit adventurous (just joking) 3. what is there to do in Hat Yai? thanks a bundle

hi ???... of course you can buy return bus ticket from klumpur... lee garden hotel is a decent and popular hotel in the city centre and very convenient for food and shopping... you can just walk in for a room if it is not on weekends or peak season... for better class hotels, you will get a better rate if you buy a hotel voucher from a travel agency... many rooms are pre-booked by these travel agencies... as for what to do, besides playing golf, check my hatyai travelogue... ~chia

I have notice from other forum as well these seems to be the trend at Hat Yai, buying voucher from travel agent cheaper, however is there a specific travel agent or every travel agent does that as well? Hope they have that in Bangkok. Hopefully the hotel are nice and below 1000baht, also Chiabh - Golf is not my cup of tea, and I am really bad in it lol, thanks for the suggestion though

I tau tempat tu bagus, bab banyak kawan cakap tapi belum pergi tak tau cam mana sana, Tempat tinggal, I tak nak murah sangat nanti dapat tempat kotor and tak sedap (macam tempat gangster) I nak average cantik tapi bersih juga dalam 1000baht. Makan I rasa tak ada masalah, bab I selalu kat Bangkok, tapi encik kata Lee Garden semua ada bagus. Nightlife, aku harap ia sebanding ngan Bangkok

I used trains from Hat Yai to Butterworth and from there to KL just a few months ago. I prefer trains to buses because I have to get up often because of a bum leg. (Trains can be a little cool by the way, some buses too!) Here is a hotel that you might want to consider. The King Hotel. Close to stores, train station and right across the street from it is a busy travel agency that can arrange bus rides. http://www.kingshatyai.com/ Personally, I would check out the bus station first for rides back to KL. Also, in KL you might ask about a round trip ticket. You might be able to get your Hat Yai to KL ticket right in KL. Good luck.
