    • International transfer - Pudong Airport

      Shanghai 1 hours ago

We are arriving Pudong airport early in the morning (flying our of Sydney) in a few weeks time and have 7.5 hours wait in Shanghai before our next flight to London. Our last stop over at Pudong airport 5 years was an extremely frustrating experience and I am hoping things have improved...

      Questions:

      1. Do they now have international transfer (so that you do not have to go through immigration, pick up your luggage and check in again which is what we had to do the last time - it took us 3 hours and we almost missed our flight!). If so, what it the procedure now?

      2. Are there ATMs inside the international transfer area? (If not, we will need to change money before we leave Sydney)

      3. What are the facilities inside the international transfer area - specifically food/restaurants, places to relax etc.

We are landing and flying out of Terminal 1.

      Thanks

    • Train tickets Ulaanbaator to Beijing

      China May 17, 2013 at 4:19 AM

      Hi,
Sorry if this post isn't in the appropriate forum. I didn't know whether to post in China or Mongolia so settled on both.
I am looking to take this train route in June, preferably on or around the 27th June, when I believe there is a train. I want to book this in advance, as it's the busy season. Can anyone recommend any travel agencies for purchasing tickets, or advise me of the best way to buy?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    • Where is this "surprising" restroom in restaurant near the Forbidden City?

      Beijing May 6, 2013 at 6:26 AM

Do you know the name/location of this restroom, with these red lady-shaped sinks?
      flickr.com/photos/redhawk170...

The restaurant was located just outside the west side of the Forbidden City in Beijing (China).
The photographer "redhawk1700" took the photo some years ago and doesn't recall the name of the restaurant anymore.

      Thanks for your help!

Cheap tickets from Beijing to a nice beaches

      Beijing Apr 26, 2013 at 5:48 AM

I have found cheap tickets online to Beijing for Christmas and New Year 2013/2014. We would like to stay a couple of days in Beijing and then go somewhere nice for sun and beaches. We have been searching for cheap flight tickets from Beijing to Bali, elsewhere in Indonesia, Philippines, etc, but it is hard make a decent search when we are not sure about where we want to go. All we know is Beijing as the departure city and low cost flights to a beach.

Does anyone know a nice and sunny place where flight tickets are cheap from Beijing?

We have already been to Thailand and Malaysia so we would like to try a differt country. Another stop a couple of days in Seoul or Hong Kong might be possible as well so cheap flights from there to nice beaches would also be an option.

      Thank you from Lena

Hi, we are planning a trip to Harbin, partly to learn more about family heritage! We are trying to find out where my husband's mother was born. We have a name for the village in Russian script - щучье, трехречье, харбин and western script, it is Shuche ("Pike"), Three Rivers, Harbin Obviously Harbin exists today as a large and thriving city but we'd love to know if the village itself still exists and if so what is its name in Chinese? And how to get there from Harbin? Also does anyone know if the Evangelical Lutheran church is still there? If anyone can help I would be most grateful! Thanks

We're going to Harbin for about three months and need to find an apartment/hotel to stay in for the duration. The closer to local prices the better as we're on a very strict budget. Twin share or similar. We don't speak Chinese, we just started learning. Is there anywhere you can think of that we can rent for one month at a time perhaps? Cheers.

Do you get a ticket that you have to carry around with you is there a gate you walk in and will we have to pay each day/time we visit? Hi!!! I am leaving for China tomorrow! (so excited!) If anyone can help me that would be great! My husband and I will be in Harbin on the 10th, I need to know how easy it is at the airport? The whole time we are in China we will be picked up at all the airports and taken to our hotels by the tour company, but in Harbin we will be on our own. We will have to make it from the airport to our hotel and then back again. According to my itinerary, they advise to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight back to Beijing... is this true? Do they really not queue over there?

I will be in Harbin in late March, early April. What are some things to do in Harbin around that time? I assume the ice sculptures will already be melted.

I have a group of 7 people planning to visit Harbin for 3 days in Jan 2009. Anyone has an idea how much transportation will cost for 2 days. We plan to visit major sites like Siberian tiger park, Sun Island & Snow World. One more question is will it be easy to book a cab or 7seat coach in Harbin Any recommendation of reliable tour agents?

by midgetswithguns Online Now Nov 23, 2008 at 8:12 PM

Hi eveyone! My hubsband and I are going to Harbin in early Jan 09', To anyone living in Harbin or anyone with experience: (1) How much (Yuan/RMB) does it cost to catch a cab from Harbin Airport to the Lungmen Modern Plaza Hotel (85 Hongjun Street Nangang District)I think it is about 40km's drive? does anyone know how long the drive takes? (2) We are going to Harbin Ice & Snow World, Zhaolin Park, Sun Island Park & the Siberian Tiger Park, out of those choices, would you not go to any of them..I heard Zhaolin Park was not worth it? (3) Do most people speak English in Harbin? will we have any trouble? (I am learning the basics in Chinese) (4) I know it will be very cold when we go, does it snow that time of year? Looking forward to your responses, thanks, Toni
