We are stopping for one night in Hakone to do the loop on the cable cars, lake, etc. We have our JP rail pass and are staying in Hakone at the Fujiya Hotel. So, we arrive about noon, spend some time in Hakone, next day do the loop, and then go back to Tokyo using our JP pass. Which of the passes is best for us, the Hakone free pass or the Fuji/Hakone pass? I thought I knew, but all the comments now have me confused. I do believe I purchase it there at the train station, right?
Looking for some very old friends that I met while stationed in Okinawa in 1991 through 1993 ? Anyone remember Sunabe seawall on Friday nights or NY,NY on a saturday? I especially wish I could get in touch with guy i met surfing near Kadena, he drove a Brown Van and if i remember correctly his name was "Bill"? I know his friends name was Johnny or I remember his girlfriend Yukari calling him that... Just throwing this out there to see if Anyone remembers anything? Please post any answers or comments Thank you......
Hi all! My boyfriend and I want to be able to visit most if not all of the "must see" attractions around Kyoto within 2 days, in which area should I be looking to book my hotel in? I also want to be able to get to Osaka fairly quickly from my hotel on the day I check out. There are cheap hotel deals going on online and the following are the ones I'm considering to stay in.
Kyoto Century Hotel
Hotel Villa Fontaine VILLAGE KYOTO
Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hotel
KYOTO TOKYU HOTEL
Kyoto Kokusai Hotel
The "must see" attractions would be such as:
Monkey Park Iwatayama
P.S. If possible, I don't want to take JR as they're relatively expensive without pass, I'm going to Osaka after 2 days.
My wife and I will be in Kyoto, and for various reasons, we want to take a commercial tour of the highlights of Kyoto rather then doing it ourselves. I have maps, rail pass, and know it would be easy, but circumstances don't permit that. I have seen a couple of tours for about $120 each for 9 hours including lunch. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good tour company? Do I need to make reservations in advance, or can I make them the day we arrive for the next day?
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone remember a surfer that drove a brown van, and I believe his name was "Bill"? I think he was in the service? He helped me out once and I never got the chance to thank him, I met him with a guy named Johnny who I believe his father was in the service, i think if I remember right Johnny was a dependent and Bill was in the service mate a Marine? . I wish I could remember more I know he rode a white surf board, But anyone who this rings a bell with any info would be appreciated!! I really need to thank him, and I think it would be a surprise after 20+ years... any help please answer. Thank You All!!!
Arriving/Departing out of Fukuoka. Staying only in Kyushu for 19 days. Tentative schedule is 2 nites Fukuoka, 4 nites Nagasaki, 1 nite Unzen, 3 nites Kumamoto, 3 nites Kagoshima, 1 nite Ibusuki, 4 nites Fukuoka. Is it best to just buy the 21-day Universal JR pass, or several 5-day Kyushu passes, or a combination of both? Will there be a need for the Kyushu pass (if some forms of transporation not allowed for Universal pass or vice versa?)
I know that the forecast already stated it will be around 6th of April for full bloom, I will be in tokyo from 22/4-2/5.

Need advise thank you so much!
We will need to get to the Osanbshi Pier in Yokohama to board our cruise ship in April. We will travel from Tokyo and are staying near the Tokyo Trail Station. The only directions I have found to Yokohama is to take the Keihin-Tohoku Line to the Kannai Station in Yokohama. Is this the best train to the Pier? If so, what is the best way to get from Kannai Station to the pier, taxi? About how far is it? Apparently the train from Tokyo to Yokohama takes about 50 minutes. Thanks for your help in advance!

We are driving to Takayama, Okuhida onsen village and Shiragawa-go in mid April 2014. May I know what the road condition will be ?
Do we need to get the car fixed with snow tyres, or just get snow chain for standby, or better to hire a SUV / 4WD ?
We are staying at the hotel Niwa 1-1-16 Misaki-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. What is the cheapest way to get there without having to carry alot of luggage all over from Narita. I have looked at several maps and I still don't know the best way to get there. Have I mentioned that I'm also cheap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
