South Downs - horseback riding

by MeredithK Online Now May 4, 2005 at 3:43 PM

I read in a magazine about South Downs and how you can horseback ride, walk, or bike down the 100-mile stretch from Beachy Head to Hampshire. I'll be in England in a couple weeks and my friend and I would love to horseback ride through part of the stretch, but I've been having trouble finding info about how and where to do this.

We will have a BritRail pass but no access to a car, so hopefully there is somewhere along the stretch that we can take the train to and rent horses for a few hours.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know the best place to do this?

Thanks!
Meredith

This is a link to the British Horse Society's page on riding school in the South east - you can have a go at contacting them and seeing if they meet your requirements. All BHS establishments will be of dcent quality. You will be able to go out on a hack probably - but not rent a horse to go out unaccompanies (for insurance purposes).
