What kind of advice you really need? Cloths? Yes, you need cloths in Hammerfest, temperatures in May will be about 5 to 15 c. Wet weather is common all year around, so good to prepare for that as well. Driving? Around yes, but not really too, you better fly via Oslo. Food? The fish is good :) Living? Expensive in Norway.

I think the OP means that he's going to Hammerfest on the 5th November, not the 11th May. Clothes - warm ones. The forecast says about 0°C, but it's right by the sea, so it could get quite cold. I've never been to Hammerfest, but you should really take the opportunity to taste reindeer, if you haven't already. And yes, we do have it with jam (lingonberry jam, to be specific). Hope you enjoy your stay in Hammerfest :)
