What is the fastest way to reach Berlin by train from Hamburg. I will be traveling on a Saturday later this month. I only have time for a quick visit --leaving Hamburg by train around noon and returning from Berlin later that night. I have been before, but not for many years. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Here is the direct English link for bahn.de: bahn.com/i/view/overseas/en/... You will see that you have a choice of departures, but at a journey time of around 1.5 hours a daytrip should be no problem at all. If you book online in advance you can take advantage of pretty good savings fares. Bahn.de will send you an eticket. Print that out, and present the email plus the card you used to pay (essential) to the guard. Works very well, in my experience.
