How is the Halifax weather through the year?
I live in Toronto and on a fixed income. I am thinking of visiting relatives that live in and around Yarmouth this summer from sometime in late July/early August for between a week and a half to 2 weeks. I do not drive and would be looking to arrive in Halifax late morning/early afternoon hoping to be in Yarmouth no late then 6pm and when I come back to leave Yarmouth mid/late morning and hoping to arrive in Halifax mid afternoon. Since I am on a fixed income I am looking for hopefully for no more then 100. Is this possible and if so can anyone post any info I should know, etc. Thanxs in advance.
I'll be a week at Halifax from May 8. Anybody interested in a joined dinner meet or a tour to Peggy's Cove/Lunenborg in the weekend (May 12 or 23)? Also open to other suggestions, PJ
My chiropractor and his family are going on the Disney to Canada cruise (5 days from NY) in July. Since I spent over a month in Nova Scotia in the fall of 2010, he asked me for advice on where he could go in Halifax, when they are in port. He wasn't sure how many hours they have. Has anyone done this cruise? He has 5 children ranging in age from 10-18. I only spent 1 day in Halifax, as I spent the majority of my trip in Cape Breton. I suggested the Citadel as a good option that the parents, as well as the kids would enjoy. He mentioned they may also do some kayaking. Does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks!
Hi there, My Husband is heading into Halifax for a few days next month and I am on a mission for him to pick up some sashimi grade tuna and salmon for homemade sushi, as well as a few other ingredients...no japanese restos here in Central Nfld :( I found a website for the Fisherman's Market, and was wondering if that would be the place to go? Thanks!
Hello again... Could someone let us know a nice place to stay in the Anapolis Valley (April 2012)? Is there anything happening during mid April? Appreciate your assistance.
We will be landing in Halifax at midnight(April 2012). Leaving for PEI next morning. Could someone tell us the name of a hotel close by going in that direction. Thank you so much:)
I need to get from airport to IWK hospital, what is the best transportation to take?
What are the options of getting to Peggy's Cove from Halifax, other than renting a car? Is there any form of public transportation/tourist buses that go there from Halifax? Thanks!
Hiya. Flying into Halifax & staying the night on Sept 15. Want to visit the Maritime Museum, Alexander Keiths tour, Maxwell Plum, HMS Sackville, Sport Hall of Fame & the Citadel, if I can. Need somewhere cheapish to spend the night & a few ideas of what I can fit in. Any help much appreciated (might be a pint in it for you too! LOL) Cheers Si

My girlfriend is a huge Reba McEntire fan and she's got the tickets for Reba's concert on Sept.26. I would like to surprise her with backstage passes for our anniversary because I know she'd love to meet Reba (she's like the biggest fan ever, all we ever listen to is Reba lol, nothing else is allowed), but I have no idea where to look for them. I'm willing to pay, of course, and I know there are about a dozen passes given away for every concert, but I need your help as to where I could get them? Do radio stations maybe give them in a competition, or should I look at the venue? Any help would be appreciated, it would be a great gift for our 3rd anniversary :). Thanks!
Hello! What are my options of getting to the town from the airport? Is there a shuttle bus? Thank you!
Hello! Could you tell me if it is considered safe for a female to travel to Halifax for a few days? Is the town considered safe and what should a female tourist know when visiting? Thank you!
I will be travelling to Halifax on Easter weekend but can't find any tour companies that are in operation this time of the year. Guided city walking tours and other fantastic sights...Bay of Fundy, Lunnenberg, and many more
I'm wondering what the best way is to combine Halifax, Cape Breton and St. John's Newfoundland into one trip? I live in the USA and would be flying out of the Washington DC area. I wonder if it's possible to book a flight to St. John's that connects in Halifax, so that the Halifax stopover could be extended for several days to allow time to explore Nova Scotia/Cape Breton, before heading on to St. John's. I figure that I would only need a rental car to get from Halifax to Cape Breton. Ideas?
Can anyone tell me what the best shuttle service would be from Halifax International Airport to Kingsburg, NS? And what would the price be for two traveling together? Thank you.
I would like to travel by car to Europe and hoping that someone can give me some information on how to go by ferry from Halifax or any other part of Canada to Ireland, England, or Coast line of Europe or Scandanavia with my car. Any information will be very much appreciated.
We would like to go to a pub with live Irish music / or music of 60th, 70th. We are 50 + / 60 +. Are HALIFAX ALEHOUSE and THE LOWER DECK PUB the good place for people of our age, or most of the people there are young and the place is very noisy? Can you recommend some restaurants with live music?
My wife and I (seniors) have been to nearly 70 countries but have never been to the Maritime Provinces!! We plan to take a two-week group tour there this fall with Grand Circle Travel and, of course, Halifax is on the itinerary. I would have thought that late September would be ideal but, unfortunately, GCT has only two departure dates that do not include either a pre- or post-trip to Boston/Cape Cod, which we have already done several times before (I went to college in Boston). Those dates are Sept 8 and Oct 6. I know from past trips to Vermont and Boston that leaf peeping is not a guaranteed success but, statistically at least, which of those two dates do you think would be better. Or perhaps there are other considerations that supercede leaf peeping. Your responses would be most welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Dan & Ginny Mitchell Cedar Rapids, Iowa
We shall be in Halifax for two full days, 25 and 26 May. No car. We plan to visit the city one day, and the other day to take a day tour out of the city. However, I could not find a tour in May, most of them start in June. Any recommendation for a tour or how to spend the second day? We love architecture, nice views, museums
When we went to Peggy's Cove we also had a lobster dinner at a dinner around that area. I want to know the name and address so I can send the family the picture I took of them. Year 2007, Princes Cruise. Would you know of this place ? Thank you, Mary Berry
Can anyone advise me on the cheapest way to stop over and visit the maritimes for a week or two on the way back from visiting relatives in Vancouver late August September? Looking at multitrips with Air Canada is coming out at £1656.00!!!!!! If I fly London to Vancouver and break the return journey in Toronto it is only £665.00! Can you help with the best internal flights or other travel that will be cheaper and also would it be best to get to Halifax or St John's or any where else? Any travel advice much appreciated. We love to visit Canada and have been to BC several times but have never ventured into Eastern Canada.
Anyone from Halifax or in the area or stopping by want to meet up for a drink soon? It would be the 1st annual VT Halifax meet ! let me know John (JohnniOmani)
