Leaving very soon on a mission trip to Haiti (Croix-des-Bouquets) and have promised to send a fellow VTer as well as family back home postcards from our visit there. Where will I find postcards? Are they available at the airport at Port-au-Prince? Any help appreciated!
Hi. I worked in Haiti for years. You will have no trouble finding postcards. They are all over the place. You will even see people in the street selling them. I must admit, I've not seen them at the airport though. The airport is something of a nightmare, best gotten out of as soon as possible. Any drugstore in PAP will have postcards. If you want something a little unusual, go to College St. Pierre where there is a wonderful art museum. It's near the Palace. They have marvelous postcards. Another great place is the small gift shop at Ecole Ste. Trinite over beside the Episcopal Cathedral. A bit out of the way, is the Baptist Mission at Fermathe and they have lots of choices of postcards too. Enjoy your trip. Haiti is a beautiful country although with many problems.

Check Vodaphone and Digicell. Vodaphone used to operate through Digicell but the contract ended in 2010 and I'm not sure... more
