If you've stayed at the Lindig's Luxury Retreat on the edge of Maliko Gulch in Haiku, what was your experience like?
Well, frankly, all I can say is that it looks good on the website. There has been some history on Maui since the recent change in the B&B laws, which were eased up on in 2006 on Maui. Lindig was/is an architect and had some problems with permits and such, no fault of hers though. She had a stroke, and that combined with the economy, the family was kind of forced into this. Anyway, there was big crackdown on illegal B&Bs on Maui, as in order to be legal the owner/operator has to live on the property. Due to the fighting spirit of this family, I do know that the county was very happy with this particular property and said so publicly when Lindig and her husband finally got to build the place that they are renting now. ( I lived on Maui and keep up with the local news.......) Without having personal knowledge, I would say it is a pretty good bet.
