How trapped is one at the Van der Valk? A 4 star at a fabulous price with breakfast, so there has to be something I should know. Thanks.
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with these Van der Valk hotels (a big and busy chain in the Netherlands). happy travels Jaap

I had to update my tip on Van der Valk-Schiphol, the link to the hotel was outdated. See: Van der Valk Hotel Schiphol A4 (Hoofddorp): "Van der Valk" - Schiphol Hotel Tip by pieter_jan_v Still free shuttle service to the Schiphol Airport. It's directly located at the 8 lane A4 highway. Be sure to ask for a silent room at the rear. Last year there was a shooting at the lobby. I'm sure this hotel get some "special" visitors with a reputation and some guests that only need their room for 1 hour or so. Still you can have a dinner at the restaurant that has been constructed over the highway, to connect the two parts of Van der Valk. PJ

Actually it is the one in Haarlem buy considering my concern the airport one may be an option. Sounded real real nice for a low price on a 4 atar and breakfast. Getting to Haarlem and Amsterdam center at the 'right' price is a concern. Thanks.

Haarlem is a fine city. Has been elected twice the best town in the Netherlands with smaller shops. Restaurants are OK too; I remember the one called Spektakel (hope it's still there). PJ
