Is this place far from everywhere? Possible to explore the island easily? What mode? how much? thanks! I'm going April 21.
Hi Lisa. Guimaras can be explored easily. Check my Guimaras pages: members.virtualtourist.com/m... - or you can also navigate VT thru 'search' to see other write-ups by other VTers unfortuntely i forgot to add some info on the Trappist monastery. From Iloilo city take PUJ to Ortiz port going to Jordan, buy ticket (P11) to Jordan. Boat leaves every 30 mins. From Jordan port, take PUJ going thru Sibunag and Nueva Valencia (just ask which one) to the monastery. It's on the roadside and most PUJ pass by it.

The monks are very hospitable, but strictly they are not operating a hostel for tourists but a retreat center for those on a spiritual retreat. However, if you can somehow reconcile that you can contact Fr. Bruno, the house master and inquire. Contact available through the internet, Our Lady of the Philippines, Trappist Monastery in Guimaras. Good luck!
