I can't tell you anything about gay-friendly venues there, but Zone 10 is the place to spend time in Guate City, especially at night. However, you are more likely to meet local well-to-do Guatemalans there than fellow travelers. Although I prefer Guate to Antigua, the latter may be the better locale for you.

You can easily leave your pack at the Visitors' Center in a small separate room for a small charge. more
