Stopover

I have a 21 hour stopover in Guangzhou. Is it worth leaving the airport and seeing the city or would it be easier and less confusing to just stick it out in the airport?

Is that International Flight in bound and out bound? Usually if the transit / lay over is more then 8~12 hours the airline provide and arrange transit visa, transport, accommodation and meals if the stop over is by airline's default. Otherwise you may need to apply short stay/transit visa with the Chinese embassy/consulate in your country. Consult the airline you are flying with.

If you solve visa questions, it is for sure worth visiting - there are several interesting temples, as well as you can take a river cruise.

21 hours stay in the airport?! That's gonna be horrible. The down town is about 40 mins driving from the airport, and it may cost20 to take a taxi. The river cruise in the evening is a very good option, and u can try some nice cantonese food before the cruise.

If you have a VISA in and out of China would be great. VISA is in the 100usd range, so you might have to think about this before you arrive. 21 hours in Guangzhou airport is no fun when you know that the city is a few miles away. The city is a good experience for a first timer, and you can get in and out of the city easy enough on a bus.....it's only the VISA that you have to worry about...so if you have the VISA...go for it. cheers tommy x
