I will be attending the Canton Fair for the first time. i'm looking for a hotel, would it be best to stay near the Fair or look out side the fair area and take transportatin. i'm not sure if you can recommend hotels here. if so please do. if not an area to search would be great. Thank you
Staying near the fair will cost big dollars. better to stay further away and travel to the fair. There are thousands of visitors to the fair and some even stay in Shenzhen and travel to Guangzhou each day.

next to the fair would be best...try the White Swan....most people that goes to the fair are booked far in advance as it is a yearly thing with a lot of foreigners attending. I have not been there since they put in a subway system in the area, I(have heard) still me being Chinese, I had a hard time getting around the city. Taxi is maybe the best way to get around if you are not in the center of town. Good luck and enjoy China cheers tommy x

A lot of hotels have a bus service that goes to the fair so don't be overly concerned with being too close as long as they have this service.

i am in guangzhou and staying at the wenchang hotel airport road baiyun district phone 02061198999 it is a nice hotel ina school complex 248rmb including breakfast.the hotel is near a sub way and bus connection and fair is not so far. i have no idea how you can book this hotel because not many people speak english. another advantage with this palce they accept western credit cards not many hotels do good luck.

I am also going for the first time to the fair but I am staying at the yulongwan art hotel I pay 120 RMB and the rooms are big and nice and i will be traveling to the fair with an interpreter ...so that's my recommendation .
