I am planning a trip to Guangazhou in September this year. When it comes to booking a hotel there seem to be so many - it is very hard to select one. Was wondering if anyone can make some recommendations. We are looking at 4/5 *, close to transport. We are real foodies so would like to be close-ish to markets, etc. Have looked at the Tiahne district - is this a good place to start?? Many thanks.
I want to travel from Xiamen to Macau so I will take the bus from Xiamen to Shenzhen and then ferry. Does anyone know where the Xiamen bus will arrive and how I get from the bus station to the port? thanks
hey guys. I'm going to be flying in to Guangzhou on the 19 morning. And have around 3-4 full days to spend in Guangzhou. Was thinking of going to Foshan as well (So its 2 days each). Do you think that's a good idea or should I just stay in Guangzhou? I'll be going around on my own and interested in checking out a variety of historical sights, good food and anywhere local and interesting. So do hit me with suggestions of places as well! Thanks
Hi, I'm an Australian and I'm looking to head over the boarder into Shenzen for a day. I will be able to buy a visa at Lu Ho, however do I need Yuan or can I pay in HKD? If Yuan, is there an ATM available before the visa office (after leaving HK?). Do they issue a full sized sticker visa as per the usual chinese ones, or is it just a stamp? (I'm running out of pages in my passport!).
Hi, I'm going next week for 3-4 days (official duty unfortunately), so my questions are... 1. Karaoke spots - any good "family friendly" ones? do they have a lot of english songs selections? 2. Nightlife - is it save to be out and about? I'm planning to walk around the city and do some shopping. 3. Shopping - i heard GZ is a popular with fabrics/laces...true? where?
I am thinking of ending my 2 week trip in China in the village of Zhaoqing. I have read about it here , passplanet.com/China/sw/zhao... I am a native born ABC (Chinese) in California. My extend of knowledge background on Chinese history of the Ming Dynasty ....is a MING VASE. My Chinese culture is getting red envelopes during Chinese New Year and my favorite Chinese food is Chow Mein from Mr. Chau....never know about those "funny" so call "weird" Chinese dishes that my Non-English speaking parents used to cook and make us kids eat it. Mom said us kids are the MOST BUNCH OF PATHETIC CHINESE persons she ever met....sterotyping us as (what she tells her friends and relatives as "WHO GEE" (other known as ABC- Ammerican Born Chinese who KNOWS NOTHING about being Chinese!!!) Mom, being 85 yrs old, disabled and wheelchair bound now...said that "I should go back to the country of my hertiage and walk the soil of my ancesters" before she dies. She is originally from Canton and she speaks the "Toilson" dialect. I plan to take a CHINA tour next year through either www.chinatour.com or Cholidays.com. The tours offered are from Beijing and endiing in Hong Kong..... but I want to make a pit stop in Canton to see the village where my mom was born and grew up. So the ONLY way I can do that is to stay in Hong Kong for a few days more on my own and try to go to Canton for a day or so.....so HOW do I booked a day trip to Mom's village from Canton? How did you get connected with China Travel Service (Canton)for a day trip? So I will need to know HOW to get to that Guangzhou place and find my Mom's village. What is mode of transportation from Hong Kong, the costs of the fares, the length of time to get there, etc. Remember, I, WHO KNOWS NOTHING about traveling aboard!!! I'm currently researching through tour agencies like www.chinatour.com and www.Cholidays.com on the website. (Friends said it's better to go with a Tour group than to "wing" it on my own because a tour agencies and show you the HIGHLIGHTS of China locations and ALSO will give you background lectures on China history and culture. So far I had looked into www.chinatour.com or www.Cholidays on the website....so if anyone else have recommended China tours agencies, let me know. Recommend any lodging in Guangzhou, Chinaa? bqc
What is the best way to get from HK (city or airport) to Guangzhou? I will have a visa on a Canadian Passport.

Hello everyone in this forum. I hope my questions come across with cool people. So I plan to open a juice bar in Saigon. It's my first one so my budget is tight. I just came across an idea that I can go shopping in Guangzhou to shop for most of the items I need for my juice bar. Like a commercial grade blender, juice, deep fryer etc. Am I heading towards the right direction in my search or am I falling into a trap? Should I just buy the really expensive equipment from america but made in China anyways?? Thank you everyone! Hope to hear from you guys and gals soon!
