We are planning to spend a day in Pitigliano. Are there other interesting towns nearby that we can reach by public transport? Would you spend the night in Pitigliano or Grosseta?
We will be in Siena for Easter of 2014. We would like to go to church on Easter Sunday and we would like to see any local pageants or festivities. Any advice? Also, we have heard about a cheese-rolling in Tuscany on Easter Monday (little Easter). Does anyone know where it is and how far it is from Siena?
Does anyone know how to get to the Siena railway station from Borgo la Chiusa, which is near Siena? From what I can tell from the directions to the Borgo, the Borgo is west and a little South of Siena (very close to Siena) just off of SS73 Aretina. The directions to the Borgo, where we will be staying, say "exit at Siena Ovest and turn right on SS73 Aretina". We are driving to the Borgo, but want to take the train to Florence and back for a couple of days and would like to know how we can get to the train station from the Borgo. We can't seem to find directions on the internet . We can't even figure it out on our map. Thank you for any help you can give. We want to take the train, not the bus, because we won't be leaving from the city center of Siena and a travel companion will have to take us to the station.
I am trying to find out if there is a direct bus from Lucca to Florence? If so, how much and what are the times?
The website www.vaibus.it is only available in Italian.
Many thanks for any help you can provide.
All the best
I will be in Florence for one day this week and would like to ask for your suggestions on restaurants for a nice lunch in the center of the city. I would love something charming and authentic (the exact opposite of a touristic one). Any suggestions on local cuisines and wines are very welcome!
Many thanks for your help :-)
My husband and I are planning our first trip to Italy in the fall. We have 3 days to spend in Florence. I would like some recommendations on hidden gems. That is, not the most popular hotels, restaurant and shopping, but the special places. Thanks!
As a part of my upcoming Italy trip in May, I will be staying in Florence 4 complete days. I am really confused over planning my time. My initial plan was as follows :
-> Dedicate 2 full days to Florence. Something on these lines : reidsitaly.com/destinations/...
-> Day trip on 3rd day to Lucca and Pisa (I don't want to leave without visiting and climbing the tower)
-> Day Trip on 4th day to Siena (Have heard superb reviews about Siena)
However considering the above itinerary I feel that time in Florence is not enough. With the above itinerary, I would miss on biggies like Pallazo vechhio, piazzale michelangelo, Boboli Gardens, San lorenzo , Bargello etc.
1. Is the above itinerary(in the link I shared) for Florence too fast, i.e. can I also fit in Pallazo vechhio, piazzale michelangelo, Boboli Gardens, Bargello in the 2 days?
2. Should I take out the half day from Lucca and give it to Florence?
Also, what according to you could be a good 2 days itinerary in Florence.
