I'm in Grenoble for a meeting early next week. Can anyone tell me what the conditions are like on the ground in the town, in Grenoble. The weather info says it's around 8 degrees in the daytime but is it more like 0 with wind chill? Are the streets clean of snow? Would you recommend winter clothes or can I get by with my suit and adding a scarf and gloves?
Having read a lot about the medieval trade routes across the alps, I would like to drive on the secondary roads (via La Grave?) from Grenoble to Milan during the 2nd week of October. What are the chances that the weather will allow that? I assume if the weather is bad, the main route will still be ok?
Hi everyone, we have a group of 10 people and looking for a reputable restaurant with great food, relaxed atmosphere, indoor, outdoor in the old part of town. Any suggestions would be really appreciated! Steve
We are a mature couple planning to travel by car in the Grenoble area for 2-3 days in mid-May 2012. We would like to drive several of the mountain roads, and wonder if they are usually open by the 2nd week in May. We have found the page listing the passes and ouvert/ferme projected dates, but wonder if these are likely to change depending on weather at the time.
For example: Col de la Madeleine, Col du Galibier, Col de la Croix de Fer, road to Alpe d'Huez, Col du Telegraphe, etc.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Im going on exchange to Grenoble for 6 months. Looking at accomodation options which mean I can enjoy a good social life in the city but also easily commute to Stendtahl uni.
