Hi! Our family will be travelling to Athens on May 25. The plan is to spend a few days in Athens then go to Santorini. The trip is for 8 days till we fly back home. This WAS the initial plan until we thought of including Paris in the mix. Do you think this is wise, or are we squeezing too many destinations within 8 days? Our objectives are: sightseeing in Athens and Paris, Beach in Santorini. Food and shopping will just be incidental if we have time to squeeze them in. Thanks for your replies and suggestions!
I for my part would take one part at a time Greece and Paris is destinations with lots of things to do and see and ...try to eat and drink. ;-)

It's too much in too few days. Either go to France or go to Greece.

In my opinion it´s squeezing it too much. Athens and Santorini has plenty to offer for 8 days and while in Athens you should also consider taking daytrips to places like Korinth and Cape Sounion.

If you only have 8 days, do one or the other. You said you were traveling to Athens, so presumably this should be a trip to Greece. Paris is pretty far away so save it for another trip. You can easily spend 8 days just in Paris so why cheat yourself? Enjoy Greece and start planning a trip to Paris in the future. Just a thought. Have fun.

As all the above, the simple answer to your question is yes. You will do nothing but travel and miss out on what are potentially excellent travel opportunities. I have not been to Paris since I was a child but have visited Santorini and Athens more recently and you really will be trying to do too much to visit them all. As stated, there is more than enough to keep you going in any of the destinations. Hope this assists, fergy.

Stick with Athens (great city for walking) especially arounf Plaka area, near the Acropolis and other attractions.\ On Santorini, hire a small car, and explore the island. Its so beautiful, many scenic drives. You can do the coast drive, then head inland. The many Olive Farms, Vineyards and small towns are not to be missed,-authentically Greek food and friendly locals. As has been stated, the beaches in Santorini are fine for walking, but certainly not for lazing or swimming. Its a beautiful island, don't rush your time there.

The best swimming on Santorini isn't even from one of the beaches. It's at the end of the seawall that begins on the wharf in Amoudi Bay below Oia. there are large rocks and a man-made platform for sunbathing. Follow the footpath to the end and this is what you'll find. http://www.larios.gr/photo_1156998.html If you swim across that narrow channel to the little rock island you'll find this. farm4.static.flickr.com/3456...
