Hi we will be in Manchester in April for 4 nights we will be arriving on Easter Monday late afternoon we are mixed group of adults and teenagers with the youngest being 14 year old football/dancing/shopping mad girl. We will be staying out at Salford quays basically because I know this area reasonably well and we plan on spending lots of time in the Trafford/Salford quays area. As yet nothing is set in stone other than the hotel and we don't mind travelling into city centre from Salford Quays on the tram its one of the highlights for one of the party and are I'm well aware of the arguments for and against staying in the city centre but what can I say I like the quays area and have stayed at a few different hotels in this area and ten - twenty minutes travelling on a tram is really not an issue for us.
I should state two of the party have learning disabilities so looking for lots of different suggestions on things we can do other than museums and shopping. Id spend the entire time in the various museums lol but that's just me. One of the party quite likes trailing around the museums, one is indifferent and the 14 year old attention drifts if she spends more than ten minutes doing anything
our plans so far and this is no particular order is this
One day would be spent
old Trafford tour (they all football daft Im indifferent to be honest and I'd rather go to the city ground but was told no)
imperial war museum well you know we have to .
lowery outlet village and walk over for a look at media city uk (maybe not sure yet)
and also a trip to the cinema in the evening (either this day or the day we arrive)
would be spent in the city centre
we will be going to the corrie tour (I know I know but we are all corrie fans)
museum of science and industry (how long should we plan to spend here I was thinking 2 hours)
other than that suggestions of other things we could do in the city centre also I been looking at the shuttle bus that goes between the various places in city centre are these really free??? Yes I know it says it on the website but coming from an area of the country where they would charge you for thinking about getting on a bus if they could get away with it Im just making sure I did not misread this piece of information.
the third day
we would be planning on going to the Trafford centre
while at the Trafford centre we would be doing some shopping and also bowling at namcos (keeping the bowling mad boys happy).
so what you all think and suggestions of other things we could do alterations we could make btw we wont be doing the Lowry :-( I've been before and I don't think anyone else in the group would get anything out of it.
I have been looking on this site and others for ideas but it mostly seems to be museum type activities not sure how two of the party would cope with a whole trip trailing around the museums and shops. So any suggestions for activities that are not museums or museums that are mostly all interactive and good fun

Hi, me & my wife are Manutd fans from Singapore. We planning visit UK nxt March 2015 and Manchester is a must stop for us. We travelling between 19th - 26th March and I realised that its Liverpool vs Manutd (21-03-15) at Anfield.
(1) Where can I buy the match day tickets ? The official website needs to ballot and i'm scared that we won't get the tickets there. I have read some forum recommending to buy it online but some say to be careful of scam.
(2) Any budget hotel or inn which is nearby Old Trafford. We arriving on Thurs (19th) so thought of going Old Trafford tour nxt day (Fri - 20th) followed by watching matchday football nxt day (Sat -21st)
(3) Since its away matches at Anfield, how long the journey from Manchester to Anfield and what mode of public transport should i take.
(4) Is it safe for us tourist to travel away to Anfield .. haha
Hope to get some helpful tips here.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Friends! My aircraft is to land at 16-30. I'll need to pass the passport control and take my trunk away then. I'am going to buy 18-00-hour Nothernrail ticket to Edinburgh. Is it 1h and 30mins enough to catch this train?
Thanks in advance.
Some years back I often stayed at Bredbury Hall. The main question: is it still the weekend hot spot in the "Club" that it used to be? And the patrons, are they still good? Also, looking at their website would indicate the it has been overall ungraded overall, has it been? All input on the recent (last couple of years) situation at Bredbury are appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

Hi, Does anyone know which terminal in Manchester airport I would leave from this coming Saturday, flying to Lyon, France.
My booking confirmation states T.3 but the reminder email I received states T.1 which leaves me confused.
I have looked on the site and it states T.3. I have tried to telephone but after holding for 20 minutes had to give up holding so, please, please if anyone has flown to France from Manchester airport recently, with easyJet please ease my mind and let me know ASAP.
After we get off the train at Manchester, Picadilly, how far is it to the set of Coronation Street and what type of transportation do you recommend to get there? Do you recommend certain attractions as must see in Manchester?
I'm starting to get my UK adventure booked and this is what we're doing (I think). I'm flying into Edinburgh and then will travel to Manchester where I will meet Mr. Dabs and pick up a car.
1) where should we pick up the car? Airport? Train station? (if we take the train back to London)
2) what's the best way for me to get between Edinburgh & Manchester? Are advance tickets much cheaper?
Then we will meander through England, Wales and then loop back up to Manchester where we will drop the car and take a train back to London Friday afternoon/night. We're flying out of LHR VERY early Sunday and Mr. Dabs loves to spend Saturday in London. Based on what we're seeing and my already booked Highclere tickets, the Manchester to Manchester loop makes more sense than dropping the car in London (and paying a drop fee)
1) what's the best way to get back to London from Manchester? I found Virgin trains which had advance tickets for 12.50£, I saw that there was a bus, but it looks to be about twice as long. Is there another train? Megatrain (which I believe is just the regular train with a special car) doesn't seem to exist.
I will be travelling from Stockport on bus service 192 to Manchester but want to go to the Opera House theatre - could you tell me if this service goes near or do I have to go into Manchester and catch another bus out to the theatre.

thanks for everyones answers to my question. they were v useful, a lot of Italian eating places seem to cater for gluten free and even the chip van in festival square did. just spent some time in your beautiful city. I don't know if it was the weather or the mif13 but there seemed almost a carnival atmosphere everywhere. Loved it

Can anyone advise the history behind the small sign "Germans House" on the house by the Premier Inn parking lot. It is seen, walking in the direction of Stockport center on A6, Buxton Rd. from Primier Inn the parking lot. I contacted the Stockport History office with no answer. This had captured my interest when I visited Stockport on business several times.
Nice town. I also enjoyed the Primier Inn Pub and the local Robinsons beer.
