Luggage Storage

by Gorkhali Online Now Jul 30, 2012 at 7:36 PM

Hi: I will going on a Amsterdam/Brussels side tour. Is there a convenient, reasonable and safe place to store my luggage -- either close to a train station or by Heathrow? Thanks in advance. GKS

if you're going to spend at least an other night at same hotel in London, you could ask them to keep your luggage, they probably would do [for free].

I am very sure you can store luggage at all of Heathrow's terminals. You can check their website for more details. I just found this website that gives you all the information you'll need. It looks as if this company operates at all the train stations, too. Enjoy London! That's where I live. :-)

It is possible, although by no means certain, that your hotel will keep your luggage (if you are intending to return to the same hotel). However, they may not be prepared to do so, for security and insurance reasons. In the UK left luggage facilities are only to be found at some railway stations and most (not all) airports, also for security reasons. The link provided above will tell you about those at railway stations. Here is the info for Heathrow: heathrowairport.com/heathrow...

I used the storage facilities at Heathrow while we were in London for the day waiting for our outbound flight. While our luggage was checked through, we did not want to carry our cabin baggage all around London. heathrowairport.com/heathrow...

All thanks. I was hoping to find out about economical solution....the cost of storing multiple for many days quickly add up.

I'm afraid there is no cheaper alternative. Places which accepted left luggage initially become very few and far between for security reasons. This has not changed. Staffed facilities are the norm. In the UK you won't find left luggage facilities other than at airports and major railway stations (some tourist attractions may keep larger bags for you, but only for a couple of hours or so). If you intend to return to the same hotel/b&b it always is worth asking if they will keep your bags, but they may well refuse to do so.
