Hello, Austin folks! We are going to be in town over the 4th of July. What's the best bet for fireworks? Also, we'll be staying downtown because our 16-yr-old son is going to a gaming thing at the Convention Center. Do we need a car to see the best that Austin has to offer? We'll be there from the 3rd to the 9th.

Planning a flight to San Francisco from San Antonio, possibly in July or August. Can a significant amount of money on airfare be saved by flying into an airport outside of San Francisco & then driving for around (up to) an hour to get to SF?

My sister and I are planning a trip across the States in July and Texas is a must see for us.
We fly into Austin, have 3 days to explore and then fly out of San Antonio. We know we haven't got much time, but were just wondering if anybody had any advice on whether we should focus out trip in only Austin & San Antonio or hire a car for 2 days and explore the little towns in-between?
Also, we are are in Texas for the 4th July, any advice about where best to celebrate this day between the 2 cities or the smaller surrounding towns?
We would really appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Does the Gaylord Texan trolley require id that you are staying at the Galord in order to ride. I will be in town at the bass pro shop and would like to go visit the Gaylord but would rather take the trolley than drive to it. Can anyone ride or is it for guests only. What are the hours of operation?

Hello. I'm to visit Grapevine soon & wondered how the drought in most areas of the country might affect the water level (& thus the activities) at Grapevine Lake. I googled 'level alert lake' but found nothing specific. In short, I have no experience w/ droughts & wonder if you have any idea, if the lack of rain continues, how severe the impact might be vacation-wise in that area of the country. I am going to a convention at the GTR, and I would like to take some of my own food in. But not have to schlep it through the airports. Is there somewhere I could stop and get some fresh food. Like fruit and veggies, and maybe even tofu? I have a wheat intolerance, so sandwiches and bagels are really not an option. OBTW, I will be taking a shuttle type thing from the Airport, so, any suggestions for transportation that will accomodate a brief shopping stop? Thank you PatientKendra
