I was thinking of coming up to Grand Marais Minn....to go up the Gunflint Trail in January for some cross country skiing. Some of the posts on this area make it sound real grim. Is it?
Grand Marais is gorgeous and a nice self-contained city. Skiing is great. The only problem in January could be the weather. As I write this from Wisconsin in Appleton it is below zero with a ghastly wind chill. God knows what the temp in that area would be right now. If that doesn't bother you, you should have a wonderful stay. Just be careful if you must do any driving.
