Within the next two months I'm going on a cruise and stopping at Grand Cayman. It will be my spouse and I and we are trying to pack everything in that we can for our day adventure there. We know that we definitely need to do Stingray City and were wondering if we should do the Turtle Farm and/or Starfish Beach? I have seen pictures of Starfish Beach and it looks amazing! It's not one of the cruise tours but I want to know if the beach is really like all of the pictures and is worth going to. Are there other places that are a must in Grand Cayman for when I go? Lastly, if I want to hit up some/all of these places (I know we have limited time but we would make it work) is it better to hire someone to drive us or just purchase everything through the cruiseline and go to the places along the tour we take? Please let me know, we are excited to go and want to know the places we should see. Thanks
We arranged to visit Stingray City on our own, mostly in an attempt to beat the crowds out to the sight because once the other boats start arriving the number of stingrays per boat drops. Some of the operators who run to Stingray City also have daytrips that include the turtle farm, I was a little put off by some of the descriptions so we didn't do that. Instead we bummed a ride from someone on our Stingray City tour who took us to Hell, really just a photo op and a place to send postcards from. And then they dropped us back on the beach where we stayed until it was time to go back, there were shuttles waiting that I think were5 pp. We used Captain Marvin's and did the 2 stop trip, I'm not sure the 3rd stop would have added anything as the stingrays are really what you are there to see. http://www.captainmarvins.com/

You can see my reviews of Grand Cayman on my page "Captain Marvin's" - Grand Cayman Things to Do Tip by Dabs And here are a handful more from Trip Advisor tripadvisor.com/Attraction_R... If there are a lot of ships in port the day you are there, the earlier you get out there the better. That's why you might not want to do a ship tour because it will likely be much larger in size. You can see from my pictures that we had terrific access to the stingrays, you can see from some of the reviews that people don't depending on how many boats are there.

All depends on what you're comfortable with. The local bus can take you to Hell which I always find facinating to photograph, see this URL for more info bing.com/images/search?q=gra... Then on to the Turtle Farm, Seven Mile Beach and back to town but only AFTER you fit in a trip to Sting Ray City depending on how long your ship will be in harbor. Unless things have changed, you will need to tender in and you can pick up the local bus about a block from the dock. The bus is FAR less expensive than a ships tour but as others stated do the Sting Rays first as it can get quite crowded out there. I can't recall exactly but I seem to remember my trips took about 45 minutes to get out to the sand bar and we spent about the same amount of time feeding the rays. Remember to NOT jump into the water and when walking, shuffle, don't pick up your feet. The larger rays will get out of the way of walking humans but the small ones sometimes do not and stings DO hurt.
