I will be staying at the Grand Canyon Bright Angel March 15, 2013 and will be driving a car. We will be doing 2 day hikes. Do you recommend buying the entry pass at the gate or at another location?
Hi - welcome to Virtual Tourist. :O)
Yes, it's very easy to purchase at the entrance to the park, and is good for a week.
Are you doing any other National Parks on your trip? I'm asking because there is another type of pass that can be a good deal for people planning to visit multiple parks within a year.

There's really no reason to pre-purchase a pass into the oark. You still have to wait in the same line to get in. Have you reserved your backcountry permit? All backcountry camping requires this. You will need that if you are two days out on a trail.

To add: I see you mention "we" in your note? One pass covers all of you in the vehicle, and costs $25: a very good deal!!!

Sounds like you've booked accommodations at Bright Angel Lodge? I've stayed there and you can't sleep any closer to the rim than that: excellent choice.
I'm not sure what you've planned for your day hikes, or what time of year you're going? Care to share?

Sorry, miss read that as a 2 day hike instead of 2 day hikes. March would be pretty cold camping in the GC.

And I missed the mention of March! DOH!
Sorry! Guess I better go make some more coffee...

Hello-
If you are entering thru the South Entrance, stop at the IMAX Theater before the park. There is a Ranger Station inside where you can buy your entry pass. NOW, you can use the Prepaid entry lane on the left, & avoid waiting in line to enter the park. The $25 is also a credit towards one of the Annual Passes, if you decide to upgrade.
