Hi, we are getting the train from Gothenburg to Oslo, I see that the train goes ever so close to Varne, but looking at street view it seems you cant actually see the lake at any point. No great shakes, it looks like a great ride in the border area, I just wanted to verify as if you do get a glimpse, even for a few seconds, it will be worth pressing our noses to the right side of the train and ticking it off. We're on quite a train journey, so saying "we saw western Europe's biggest lake", even for a few seconds, is worth adding to the list. If there are any other specific things, like some special church or anything really, please let me know. Thanks.
Any suggestions for youth hostels to stay during Medieval Week 2008 in Visby. Thanks in advance Rocket...
Hi! Has anyone stayed in Medieval Hotel in Visby? I am going to stay there next year, and I would like to hear some opinions. :)
Hello all! My name is Aza Derman and I am a graduate archeology student. I am going to Gotland in July and need to book a cabin at Slite and rent a scooter/cycle to get to Klints, where the Viking Exploration Programme is digging. What is the best way to do this? Slite cabins are not on the gotland tourism site, so I'm not sure if that means there are no spots available. Also, does anyone know the best way to get from Arlanda airport to Nynashamn to board the ferry to gotland? And, sorry, third, how far is Ekland from Klints? Thank you very much for your time! I'm planning a trip with husband to Sweden next September '07. We want to spend 15 days. I'm thinking of flying into Stockholm and then on to Gotland. I was pleased to see that many of the tourists will be gone by then but I'm really looking for any ideas between the mainland and the islands that will immerse me in the country and it's history No 5 star hotels for me! Are there any 'must-see' things you would recommend so I don't totally miss out. Also, I would really like to rent a car and do this by driving ourselves; is this an easy thing? Thanks for your help! D.
Headed to Gotland for 3+ days in the very beginning of August. I was wondering if this is still considered a fun time to visit, or, if the people have all gone home. Any feedback would be most appreciated. Ha det bra. MD

Hello, I'm trying to help a japanese friend who's trying to help a friend to arrange a trip to Stockholm and Gotland and to visit the places concerning the welfare work there. This maybe should be dealt with by the pro's, but I will at least try to help.
i like food markets, authentic food, off the beaten track areas, pubs, etc. Will be in visby in August
I would like to visit visby while I am in Sweden but my time is very limited. When I try to read the ferry schedule, it looks like there is a single ferry this time of year that arrives visby at 1400 hrs; the only returning ferry on that day is 2 hours later! I don't have the luxury of spending a night in Visby. Is there any other affordable way to get to Visby? The airline price I saw was about600 for the 45 minute trip!
My in-laws want to go to Gotland this summer, and they are seniors, so they would like to go with a tour, if possible, as they don't want to rent a car. Does anyone know of any tour operators that offer a, say, 5-day tour of Gotland, including transportation and hotels? I checked on the internet and have not been able to find much. Any recommendations? tour operators? resources? websites? Thanks so much!
I'm planning a cycling trip to Gotland next summer 2004. I wonder which guesthouses, b&b:s, cabins, country farms or other accommodation services (but not the hotels) are the nicest and friendliest plus can tolerate four cycklists staying only one night in one place. Has anyone tried their services?
One of our port stops will be Visby, Sweden on our Baltic cruise. Of course a couple of tours are offered from the cruiseline but would it be convenient to explore on our own? How far is the town from the harbour? Thanks.
I'll be going to Gotland and apparently it is during a week where everyone will be dressed up in medieval clothings for the party. Does anyone know about this party? What is it about.
